We made the paper!!!! The very thoughtful write up of Bloodline Lily Janiak published in @sfchronicle_datebook online this weekend was included on the front of Tuesday’s Datebook section yesterday, right under a story about BTS. The kind folks at the @heathceramics newsstand held a copy for me to pick up this morning on my way into the office.

When you write a play you have no control over how it’s perceived by others, or what level of attention it gets. While getting the word out about a first time full length commissioned by a small indie theater like @awesometheatre has definitely been a challenge, I feel incredibly lucky to have this kind of coverage and don’t take it for granted at all.

We have one weekend left and I really hope folks get a chance to see this play. Our incredible cast, director, and production team have created something really special.

The first characters we cast for Bloodline were the protagonist Naomi and her aunt Hanifa, played by @maeronyes and @crayziladi. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to write a play grounded in the perspectives of Black women and their love for each other. Their bond is the heart of the story and it’s been such a pleasure watching Maeron and Pam build it in rehearsal. I can’t wait for you all to see it on stage!

Bloodline opens Friday, May 1 at @eclecticboxsf! Get your tickets via the link in my bio, and use the code REBECCABLOOD for 25% off!
