Hiii! If you’re new here, I’m a nurse and surfer making a film about preeclampsia!

July 19-25th is #BlackMaternalMentalHealth week. I surfed through my high risk pregnancy not only to create awareness about preeclampsia, but also for my #mentalhealth . Getting in the ocean everyday gave me the capacity to face my high risk pregnancy.

Knowing the signs and symptoms of preeclampsia can save a life or two! When we care about black maternal health we care about everyone’s maternal health. The onus for change is not solely dependent upon black midwives and providers but EVERYONE who comes in contact with the birther. Let’s help lift the burden. We all gotta know.

I created the W.E.P.U.S.H Acronym to help.

P:. Persistent headache/ R upper abdominal Pain

U:. Unusual Swelling & Weight gain (eyes,hands, 5>lbs in a week

S:.Sight changes or Seeing spots (blurred vision, double vision)

H:. High blood pressure > 140/90

What a beautiful sunset with our King’s Oʻahu Life Group leaders. 🌅🤍

So thankful for this church family and the opportunity to simply slow down, laugh, eat together, and enjoy one another. These moments of fellowship are such a gift.

Thank you, Pastor Andrew and Pastor Kenrick, for always encouraging us to step into the calling God has for each of us and to lead with the heart of Jesus. Thank you to my brothers and sisters for saying “I’m all in” for Jesus! Mahalo to EVERYONE who hand a hand in making our family gathering happen with so much joy! ❤️🙌🏽
