🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Games which pair with Coffee 🥊 💥 Round 2 - Current BGA favourite next to your coffee machine 💥 We're back for another round of Board Game Face Off! To catch you up to speed, we are facing off against the wonderful Bo from @afriendingames, and this month the theme is Games Which Pair With Coffee. Last week it was a super tight battle with Bo edging ahead, but it's still all to play for! If you're anything like me (Ben), your day starts off with a cup of coffee, and catching up on your BGA turns as the North and South American (or European insomniac) players have played their turns while you sleep. So we thought it would be perfect to have a sub-category pairing a BGA fave with a cup of coffee. I have gone for Draft & Write Records, which is a music based draft and write game where you are an up and coming band looking to become a chart topping success! One of the best things about playing on BGA (apart from being able to play with friends across the world) is that it takes care of the admin for you and will never let you forget a phase of your turn. With D&WR it is especially helpful as you don't need to keep all of the bonus cascades kept in your head as you try and play your turn. This is one of the games we loved so much on BGA that we had to get the physical copy, but we still love playing it on BGA too! Bo has chosen Lost Ruins of Arnak, which is a game we see on the BGA homepage all of the time, but we are yet to play it. Go check out Bo’s post to see why he has chosen it! You can vote on which game you think trumps the other on Bo’s @afriendingames story now! Thanks to @brettspielgiraffe for running the Face Off challenge and to @magicandmeeples for a fantastic theme!

Love these! We have played this game once and were really learning all of the steps. It did seem to go quickly after we learned the game! And we are huge fans of this theme! I was reminding Papa and their other game Bear Mountain Camping Adventure that we added to our collection previously! Love the camping theme! Want to play both games now! #campingthemed #campingseasonboardgame #bearmountaincampingadventure #sweaterbeargames #dicetowers

🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Games which pair with Coffee 🥊 💥 Round 1 - Coffee and a Solo Game 💥 It’s the end of the first week of September and it’s the perfect time to start up this month’s Board Game Face Off. This month Chris from @magicandmeeples has chosen a theme that is very close to my (Ben) heart, games that pair with coffee. We were going to give this month a pass as life is lifing, but Chris rightfully reminded us that all board games pair with coffee. That has led to some creative thinking with our sub-categories, and as it’s Sunday we thought we should go for a solo game to partake in #SundayMorningSolo. And we mustn't forget to mention our competitor, the wonderful Bo from @afriendingames, who we are very excited to be partnering for this month! We have gone with Cavern Shuffle (with matching mug). It is a dungeon crawler, solitaire style card game. If you ever spent your childhood playing solitaire on the computer then you will be very familiar with how this game works, by trying to create runs to reveal cards, however Cavern Shuffle adds in the twist of facing off against monsters by building up your party of adventures! Bo has chosen the perfect solo game to play with a cup of coffee, Coffee Roaster! I love this game and I would have voted for it if I hadn't chosen Cavern Shuffle. It’s such a wonderful puzzle as you seek to perfect the roast of your beans without burning them. You can’t not play it with a cup of coffee beside you either! You can vote on which game is your favourite on our story now! Thanks to @brettspielgiraffe for running the Face Off challenge and to @magicandmeeples for a fantastic theme!

🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Numbers in Games 🥊 💥 Round 2 - Number in Words 💥 It’s time for round two in this month's Board Game Face Off! Last week we were narrowly beaten by the wonderful Chris from @magicandmeeples, with a game that we had never heard of before. This week, following the theme of Number in Games, we are each choosing our favourite game with the Number in Words. No numerical symbols this week, just pure letters! We have gone with my favourite solo game of all time, One for Sorrow which is made by the incredible @kevmakesgames. If you haven’t seen it, it is a one handed solo game where you are trying to get your magpies in order to banish the Spectre of Sorrows before they curse everything. It is such a satisfying puzzle that you can literally take anywhere, and after one game you will not be able to put it down until you win. Chris has chosen One Two Many Rabbits, again another game we haven’t heard of so go check out her post to see why she chose it. You can let us know which game gets your vote on our story now! Thanks to @boardgamebeacon for running the Face Off challenge and this month the theme was chosen by us.

🥊 #BoardGameFaceOff - Numbers in Games 🥊 💥 Round 1 - Numerical Party Games 💥 We are almost half way through the month, but it is time for our first round of Board Game Face Off. This month we are up against the wonderful Chris from @magicandmeeples. This month we also chose the theme of Numbers in games, and we are starting off with our favourite numerical party games. We have gone for the absolute classic of 6 Nimmt, the game in which you are trying not to place the sixth card in a numerical row of bulls. Sometimes it is just the simple things that make such a great game and after we were first introduced to this game years ago, we got it almost immediately. It has become a firm favourite in our collection and often comes out when we have five or more people around the table. Chris has gone for Stitch: The Fix for 626, which we have never heard of before, so you will need to go check out her post for why she chose it. While you’re there you can also vote for your favourite of the two on Chris’ story 👉🏻 @magicandmeeples Thanks to @boardgamebeacon for running the Face Off challenge

Happy 10th Anniversary to the best wife/partner/boardgamer/friend ever! I love you just as much as when we first met, and there’s no one I’d rather be unexpectedly stuck on an island with after our return flights got cancelled. Here’s to 100 more years of adventures together!

⛅️ Board game face off round 2 ☔️ New month, new face-off - this month with a hotness theme that I’m interpreting quite literally with Chris over at @magicandmeeples. We’re going from cold to hot-themed games, and today, we’ve reached the middle of the road. The place where the weather is nice - or at least varied. So I picked Mythwind, because you literally flip through different kinds of weather during a season. On top of that, the game is just beautiful and very relaxing to play. Chris’ choice is Lands of Galzyr. This is one of those games that I have been close to buying so many times, but haven’t clicked “buy” on yet. It definitely looks interesting, check out her reasons for selecting it in her post. Which is the most tempered of these temperes games, though? Have your say in my story!

❄️ Board game face off round 3 ❄️ New month, new face-off - this month with a hotness theme that I’m interpreting quite literally with Chris over at @magicandmeeples. We’re going from cold to hot-themed games, and while there are a lot of great games set in the ice age or arctic, another one came to mind: Biathlon Blast. This is a little gem of a game that my game group and I fell in love with on our first play. In the game, you’re all biathletes trying to get to the goal area first and hitting the most targets. Whoever crosses the finish line the third time first is the winner! It’s so much fun, and gets a little mean since you can get in the other players’ way and trip up their tactics with your die rolls. Huge recommendation from me. Chris’ choice is Yak. This is a game that I know absolutely nothing about, but I just looked it up on BGG, and it looks good. Plus, Chris has good taste in games, so it should be a good one! Which is your hottest cold game, though? Have your say in Chris’ story!

@magicandmeeples asked us a hard question today for #topictuesday - If you had to cull 5 games right now, which would you pick? If I was forced to choose 5 to get rid of right now, these would be the ones I would go with! I haven’t even played Imperial Miners, but the others had each been played a few times and they just didn’t vibe with me too well! I keep meaning to give them one more play before I officially decide if I’m going to keep them! Good topic for this week! Can’t wait to see everyone else’s thoughts for today! Topic Tuesday is hosted by @ataleoftwomeeples

As of today I have been on instagram for 2 years! That’s 2 years of board games That’s 2 years of new friends That’s 2 years of sharing the love of the hobby That’s 2 years of sharing our games and experiences with games new to us and old In this carousel my friends and I decided to celebrate by sharing games we like to play at 2 Doesn’t matter if the player count says 2 players only or if there is a fan made way to play it at 2 or if the advertised best player count is different at 2 Sometimes it’s nice to hang with one person at a time to game together whether its cooperatively or against each other Here’s to 2 years and many more future years of board gaming

Both the board game and guinea pig communities are grieving and it's difficult to find words of comfort. But I am thinking about how social media does not have a reputation as a place for making friends, and yet, we've all met so many people online through these spheres that have left an indelibly positive impact on our lives. I would never have guessed to have made such true friendships here, one of which is @magicandmeeples , who send me this incredibly thoughtful box of gifts for the holidays. Thank you for the joyful moments, Chris, even amidst the sadness. You are a wonderful friend and I appreciate you very much. We will get together again soon! So I offer these words: continue to hold each other dear and close. It's ok to be sad. It's also of to find joy and gratitude in the little things, as much as you can. Boop a cute pet nose. Play a game. Hugs. ❤️ (This video contains music from Shutterstock, licensed by Splice video editing app.)
