Welcome to the mood board for our Q4 event. Drapery. Fringe. Sparkles. Disco. Velvet. Animal print. Lipstick on a mirror because I know I’ve always wanted to. And of course, a crispy Diet Coke, the wedding vendor’s cigarette. You’ve spent the whole season making everyone else’s day perfect. This night is for you. We’re also planning a little something that’s going to…. Let’s say, leave a mark. 👀 Drop your guess in the comments. We’ll reveal the answer soon, and no, we’re not telling you just yet! Wear something fun, bring your favorite people, and leave the “professional” at the door. Tickets and details coming soon!

We’re looking for industry leaders! WIPA Houston has nine board positions available this year: President, Vice President, Director of Membership, Director of Membership Retention, Director of Programs, Director of Sponsorship, Director of Community Engagement, Director of DEIB, and Director of Education. We’re a newer chapter, and we’re continuously looking to grow and expand, we’d love for you to be part of that growth so we can keep putting on amazing events for this industry. Whether you’re passionate about leading our chapter’s vision, welcoming new members, building sponsor relationships, curating unforgettable events, or making sure our chapter reflects the community it serves, there’s a seat at the table for you. And to clear up something we’ve heard a few times, letters of recommendation are NOT required to apply. We don’t want that to be the thing holding you back! If you’re interested, send us a message and we’ll walk you through the open positions, or head to the link in our bio to fill out an application. We promise, we’re fun. 😉 Applications close September 30.

Ten habits, and I am not sorry about any of them. 11 years in this industry has made me genuinely obsessed about the details. I think about where the light will be in a room I have never stood in. Every nice thing a couple has said about me lives in a folder on my phone that I reread on the hard weeks. I have opinions about buffer time that have accidentally ended conversations at parties. The upside for you is that obsession is the whole product. The person thinking about your venue light at eleven at night is the same person who nails it on the wedding day. Nothing in this industry is off limits for me to talk about, which is why this account looks the way it does. Comment MORE if you want the rest of the list, it gets worse.

Let’s talk about who’s setting the soundtrack for September 21. Born out of founder Susie Criner’s work booking live music for her iconic nightclub, Rockefeller’s. 45+ years later, Gulf Coast Entertainment has been the go-to name for live entertainment in Texas ever since. We’re so glad to have that level of experience and care behind our night Nick Serena, through @gulfcoastentertainment, is the consummate showman, a bandleader and singer whose talent for hosting can escalate any event into something truly memorable. He leads his band, Nick and the Hits, who’ve been playing together for over 15 years, starting all the way back when the members were just kids jamming in a garage in middle school. Smooth voice, serious guitar skills, and the perfect energy for our cocktail hour. Go get your tickets now! Grab yours now, through the link our bio. September 21 Latuli, 8900 Gaylord Dr 6-9 PM
