$11 million - one of the biggest #AI fitness funding rounds in Europe this year.

Congrats to Cambridge Judge entrepreneurship alumnus Varun Bhanot who has secured new funding for his company MAGIC AI as it expands across the United States.

The round follows a remarkable run for the business: a King's Award for Enterprise, recognition as one of @TIME's Best Inventions, and more than 500,000 AI-guided workouts completed on its platform.

It's also a sign of where AI is heading. As software becomes easier to build, investors are increasingly backing businesses that combine AI with proprietary data, physical products and experiences that are harder to replicate.

A strong next chapter for MAGIC AI. 👏

The dream is only crazy until it works.

When I started @magicdotfit, I had no background in AI, hardware or fitness.

Just an idea I couldn’t stop thinking about — and a belief that we could build something that didn’t exist yet.

There were 150+ investor rejections.

People told me:

You’re too inexperienced.
Hardware is impossible to scale.
Nobody wants a fitness mirror in their home.
You don’t understand AI.
No one will invest.

There were moments we were just weeks away from not being able to pay the team.

But we kept going.

Today, we’re announcing an $11 million investment into MAGIC AI.

And while I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved, this video isn’t really about the money.

It’s about what can happen when you keep showing up for something you believe in — even when the rest of the world can’t see it yet.

So if you’re sitting on an idea that feels crazy…

Start.

If people doubt you, keep going.

If you fail, learn and go again.

Because every impossible thing was impossible — until somebody did it.

Dream big. Back yourself. Keep going. ✌🏽

Week 68: THE WEEK WE GOT KATIE BACK!!!

This last week was packed full of great food, great people and great memories.

I got to spend 2 wonderful days in London with my Sister, and we really made the most of our time in the city. I managed to snag us rush tickets to Six The Musical on night 1 and The Devil Wears Prada The Musical on night 2, which we got to enjoy with our lovely friend Erin who was also passing through London!

We spent most of our time in London on foot, or bike, and had a great time exploring and, more or less, food hopping our way through the city. Highlights included stops at Libby’s Gluten Free Bakery, The Chocofruit Stall in Selfridges and Borough 22 Doughnuts twice. I managed to squeeze in some workouts at the gym and using my Magic AI fitness mirror in the past week, too.

I really didn’t expect to see any results, especially given the sheer quantity of sugar I consumed over the week, but I think all the walking did us good because today I stepped on the scale and I weighed in at 82.55 KG which is down 0.35 KG from last week. I’LL TAKE IT!

I’m looking forward to having a more balanced week nutritionally this week, and to getting back into the swing of my routine at home. I’m also looking forward to heading back to London for my birthday next week, where Katie, Peter and I will be working on a very special video project. More on that next week though :D

Week 67: The Week that sped by so quickly I nearly forgot to do my check-in!

This last week was pretty packed with work and trying to catch up on the things I fell behind on while I was out of commission with my face in the first half of the month. I’ve also been dealing with my back flaring up over the past couple of days, which has been making sleep and recovery really hard… but back pain aside? It’s been a good week!

Workwise: We had the penultimate episode of Peas in a Podcast go out last week, which felt a bit surreal. I can’t believe this project is nearly over, it’s been such a pleasure to work on with Bridport Food Matters (@bridport.food.matters). On Wednesday we had another Wessex Woodwind (@wessexwoodwind) Tutorial go live. I’m so proud of Peter and the work he’s put into building this line of instruments, and building this new business. I also got to do some more work with Fossil Coffee (@fossil_coffee_co) for a new line of merch they are launching, which is always good (and caffeinated) fun. Lastly, I got to meet up with a new client who I’m really excited to be working with - and I really can’t wait to share more about them and their business with you :D

Over the weekend Peter and I finally got round to installing that stable door that we found on Facebook Marketplace for £100. Our old door was in dire need of replacement, with the bottom of the frame rotting out. Our house is nearly 300 years old, so replacing a door isn’t as straight (literally) forward as one would hope, but we (PETER) got the job done and we are so happy with how it turned out! I’ll post a proper door video of that process later this week for those of you who are interested in it.

Which brings me to the weigh-in: today I stepped on the scale and weighed in at 82.9 KG which is up 0.15 KG from last week. I’m really happy with this, and feel like I’m in a very good place on that front right now!

The fitness mirror isn’t dead yet.

London-based Magic AI has raised $11 million to scale its AI-powered fitness mirror in the U.S., a market where connected fitness mirrors have had a complicated history.

@magicdotfit is taking a different approach.

Its mirror tracks users during workouts, provides real-time form correction and is positioned as an accessible alternative to personal training.

The company says its community has already surpassed 20,000 members across all 50 states, with CEO Varun Bhanot expecting the U.S. to become the majority of its business next year.

🚀 Today, I can finally share that we’ve raised $11 million for @magicdotfit. 
❤️ This one feels very personal. 
👀 Everyone sees the headline. Very few see what it actually took to get there.

👶🏽 15 hours before Deep was born, I was still in the office for a final investor meeting.

🤯 A term sheet from one of the best VC funds landed while in the hospital 🏥

✈️ There were then flights across Europe and the US rounding up investors, hundreds of legal docs, calls from hospital rooms, and more moments than I can count where family life and founder life completely collided.

🙏🏽 A huge milestone for MAGIC AI - and easily the biggest fundraise of our journey so far.

💭 But the thing I’ll remember most isn’t the number:

❤️ It’s @anisha_sethbhanot and the kids backing me through every ridiculous moment.

💪🏽 And our team continuing to show up, build and believe when the process felt never-ending.

🪞 We started MAGIC with a crazy idea to put an AI personal trainer inside a mirror.

🌍 Now we have some incredible people backing us to take that vision global.

🙏🏽 Massive thank you to everyone who believed in us, invested in us, challenged us and helped us get here.
