POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In a recent conversation with a yoga practitioner, I was reminded of my fascination with Akira Kurosawa’s films where perception itself becomes the story, revealing how fragile and subjective our sense of reality can be. How they visually unravel perception, showing that reality is never singular, and how easily it can mislead us

I used to believe my reactions to people were random.
Some people made me feel inspired.
Some triggered irritation.
Some brought out comparison, envy, even discomfort I couldn’t explain.

For a long time, I thought they were the reason.
But slowly, through learning from traditional Indic philosophy, especially the Ṣaḍ Darśanas (six schools of thought), I began to see something deeper.
Indian psychology speaks of the Panch Kleshas
Ignorance, ego, attachment, aversion, and fear.

These aren’t abstract ideas.
They quietly shape how I see the world…
and how I suffer within it.
Then one sutra shifted everything for me:
Maitri Karuna Mudita Upeksha

It offered a simple but powerful practice:
Be kind to those who are happy.
Be compassionate to those who are in pain.
Feel joy for those doing well.
Stay undisturbed by negativity.
Not as morality.
But as mental training.
I realized every interaction is not just a relationship with another person,
it is a relationship with my own mind.
And peace isn’t something I find in the world.
It’s something I practice in how I meet it.
Save this if you’re exploring the psychology behind ancient wisdom.

Note: This is a contemporary paraphrase of Indic philosophical verses. The original Scriptures holds deeper wisdom, which is best understood through self-inquiry.
