NARTHANA 2026 - සිලම්බුවේ රහස ✨ @kandyandancers

This performance is one of the biggest manifestations of my dance journey, and I want to share a moment that made it even more special for me.

As our story was inspired by Goddess Paththini, I approached this role with deep respect and devotion. Those who know the story of Kannagi and Kovalan will remember the significance of the anklet, an object that carried love, sacrifice, loss, and destiny.

During our performance, at the exact moment Kovalan left and I cried out for him, the very anklet that had been tied on my leg broke. Of course, it could simply have been a costume malfunction caused by dancing, but the timing felt so incredibly perfect that it left me speechless. 😳

Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe it was nothing more than chance. But in that moment, standing on stage, it felt as though something unseen had touched our performance and blessed the story we were telling. ✨

Strange, unexpected, and absolutely beautiful! Here I’m sharing a moment from සිලම්බුවේ රහස that I will carry with me forever 🤍🧿

Five Years of Narthana celebrated the rich diversity of Sri Lankan dance, showcasing folk, Kandyan, Ves, Pahatharata, Sabaragamu, Bharatanatyam, Kuththu, lyrical and contemporary performances.

Hosted at the Shaw Theatre in London's King's Cross, the 2026 Sri Lankan Cultural Dance Performance was presented by Dilini Seneviratne and the talented performers & choreographers of The Kandyan Dancers Company.

The standard of performance throughout the evening was incredible, with every dancer bringing skill, energy and passion to the stage. From traditional cultural dances to contemporary pieces, it was a wonderful celebration of Sri Lankan heritage, artistry and storytelling through dance.

KD Co. Ves & Pahim Path 2025 ✨

This year marks our second celebration, honouring both Ves and Pahim Path - two significant milestones in traditional Sri Lankan dance.

One of our dancers proudly attained the Ves and six students completed their Pahim Path, marking their official graduation and first performance as trained artists. Each of these achievements represents dedication, discipline, and deep cultural commitment.

Congratulations to our graduates Mahith, Ranthi, Krishani, Sachy, Pawani, Minoli and Britney!

Thankful for Guru Prasanna Rupathilaka, Director of the Prasanna Ru Dance Academy, and talented drumming artist of the academy, Koshan Mapatuna for accompanying them with live drumming yet another year!

Special mention to Venerable Wanduramba Kassapa Thero for his support and for Athula Dassana Temple for hosting us again.
