This might surprise you, but I’ll be the first to tell you to spend less on flowers in certain places. Yes, florals are what I do. But my focus is on creating a personalised design for each couple, and also being honest about where your budget works hardest. We also don’t have to stick to the norm. Cake table flowers? How about a beautifully draped table instead? Want to go hard on ceiling installs and then bulk candles on the tables? This is what we do, we don’t just tick the boxes! If a space is only seen for a moment, it rarely needs a full floral install. If your ceremony pieces can move to the reception (pending logistics), we’ll almost always do that. And if your venue already has beautiful greenery or a feature backdrop, there’s no reason to compete with it….. or we will work with it and make it even more epic! The brief: soft and romantic without taking away the breathtaking view. Execution: complete! This is one we adored creating from scratch and it all started with one inspo image. The focus for this ceremony setting was creating a soft colour palete that was striking but didn’t take your eyes away from the stunning background. And can we talk about the raised platform for a second? We love it so much! Not only does it look absolutely stunning, it also means everyone can actually see you say for “I do”. Even Aunt Betty in the back row! No craning necks, no peering between heads, just everyone part of the moment with you. It’s these little details that doesn’t always make the Pinterest board, but it’s elements we discuss as your design concept evolves and can make such a difference on the day. I’m not blind to the fact that I get to work alongside some incredibly talented people at some incredibly beautiful venues. And this day at @campdavidfarm was exactly that. Here’s a first look at the full-scale marquee setting we planned and designed to show what’s possible at @campdavidfarm when a planner and stylist work together. If you’re dreaming of a marquee wedding, here’s what goes on behind a setting like this to bring it all together... - The marquee is only the starting point. Flooring, lighting, power, furniture and on the day venue requirements all have to be taken into account with the planning so every guest is comfortable and safe across the evening. - The layout is designed around how your guests will move through the space on day. How they will enter the marquee, how much space the bar needs to serve drinks and the room needed for everyone to hit the dance floor. - Styling choices like florals, draping and table settings are designed alongside logistics from day one, so the look you fall in love with actually works in the space allowing guests to find their seats easily and caterers to serve food efficiently. That’s the beauty of a planner and stylist working as one team. The vision and the logistics come together, so nothing is missed and your day is perfect!
