I tell you guys what! I am so blessed to have so many amazing and supportive women in my corner! This new round of Ambassadors is much larger than I expected but I am oh so grateful for women like these!

💚 💜 @readersfesthtx RECAP💖

Y’all, this was my first weekend away from Dorian. Travis, Dorian, and Midna totally held down the fort so I could do my event work. Since I primarily work from home, it was a new experience to pump in a public bathroom during event breaks. Sure, it was in front of strangers, but a mom’s gotta do what a mom’s gotta do.

Right before the start of day 1, I accidentally spilled breast milk all over my shirt. At first, my mind went blank because the early bird shoppers were minutes away from storming the event space, and I was a mess. Serendipitously, @amywvogel appeared in the bathroom and said, “What size shirt?” She came back moments later with one of her merch shirts for me to wear. Lifesaver! Talk about authors supporting authors.

Major highlight? Meeting @obeytheauthor in person! I already bought two books on her website, so it was so cool to meet her IRL and buy Sista Samurai at the event. Total fangirl moment!

Since we had all weekend to chat with readers, I actually had time to chat with the other authors and vendors. It’s always so delightful to catch up with my Houston friends!

Overall, this was a wonderful experience, and I felt the love. Couldn’t have done it without @maincharactermatchmaker. I felt so confident and capable in author mode, but I was SO happy to be home and snuggle with my little family.

This was a good reminder that I still need to practice/rework my book pitches. At times, I felt too shy, unsure, tired, or long-winded. Some therapeutic journaling is in order, right?

Thank you to everyone who chatted with me and bought books. You’re the reason why I do what I do!
