Although currently on maternity leave, I never stop—never stop mentoring, never stop championing female leadership, and never stop pushing for change in hospitality.

As a passionate advocate for women, parents, and minority groups, I was thrilled to bring two Edge Hotel School - University of Essex alumni to the Boutique Hotelier event this year - Lucy Ratford and Sophia Lord AIH, further continuing their graduate CPD journey.

The statistics were stark: women make up 51.2% of the hospitality workforce, yet hold just 30% of executive roles and only 7% of top leadership positions.

A panel featuring Sama Trinder, Olivia Immesi , Mairead-Robyn Gleeson and Catherine Morris tackled the realities of gender bias, career barriers, and the undervaluing of "soft skills" in leadership. One standout discussion? A lender refusing hotel refinancing unless a male board member was appointed—a stark reminder of persistent inequalities.

A particularly powerful conversation explored working motherhood, reframing parenthood as a leadership asset that hones resilience, emotional intelligence, and crisis management—all crucial in hospitality.

Leaving The Ned, I felt energized and optimistic—not just about the discussions, but about the action we can take together!

A huge thank you as always to Zoe Monk , Eamonn Crowe and the Boutique Hotelier team for an inspiring event. Roll on for next year's!

Always wonderful to catch up with industry friends and connections - Joanne Taylor-Stagg MSc MI FIH , Danielle Abreu , Emily Goldfischer , Diana Field , Mairead-Robyn Gleeson , Zoe Monk.

P.S - Thank you to the Pan Pacific London team for a wonderful breakfast! Perfect way to start the day! Great team Anne Golden MI FIH ✨

To the women, parents and underrepresented voices shaping the future of hospitality: keep pushing, keep leading, and keep lifting others as you rise. Because we never stop.
