Fishtails is excited to look back on 2024 as the year comes to a close! We are continuing to highlight some foster parents from this year that you should be following on Instagram. So many of our fosters have Instagram accounts for their foster pets!! We love being able to highlight their accounts to help potential adopters learn even more about the pets with Fishtails! @maisymousecat - Hannah started fostering with Fishtails in May of this year and as of this fall she also took on running the rescue’s social media!! (Hi!) She just took in her latest foster from @acctphilly, the cutest little guy named Matzah Ball Soup. @geossica - Jessica is a client of @fishtownanimalhospital and was always interested in fostering. After volunteering at our Fall in Love adoption event and meeting our fosters and volunteer team, she opened up her home to her first foster... Patches!! @phillyphosterphamily - Lora is an experienced foster who took in her first foster with Fishtails this year! Her family welcomed Ginger into their home this fall, after seeing her shared on our social media for help. Ginger’s owner had passed away and the family didn’t want her to go to the shelter. @shelterartbykaitylacy - Kaity Lacy is well known among the rescue world for her art and advocacy for animals! Kaity has fostered with Fishtails for many years and is the one to follow-up with those that pledge on behalf of ACCT animals saved by Fishtails! She is currently fostering Bo for the rescue. Support the rescue and our foster families by following them on Instagram! Are you interested in fostering with Fishtails in 2025? Apply now at https://farsaves.com/apply-to-foster/ and get pre-approved to foster once you’re ready.

Welcome to love, Matzah Ball Soup! 🥣 Soup came into the rescue from ACCT (where he was known as Spoils) with a fractured left hind leg. He is the sweetest kitten ever—all he wants is love and pets, will nuzzle into your hand and crawl into your lap, and his purrs have been nonstop since he arrived in his foster home last night. He was taken to PASE today for a surgical consult with Dr. Astor and got a splint while we work with the team at PASE to determine the next steps for him. Soup’s upcoming surgery is covered thanks to David at @sands_of_time_recordings, who donated $6,000 to the rescue today, and whose work will be matching 100% of that for a total of $12,000!! We met David at @thisishardcorefest, who always invites the rescue to table, and he let us know he would love to help us by raising money for the rescue through his philanthropic archival hardcore music project. The rescue is humbled by the support we continue to receive by the Philadelphia hardcore community. Be on the look-out for two more animals that will benefit from David’s generous donation and be sure to follow him on Instagram to see future releases! A huge thank you to Hannah for taking him in as a foster. He was able to leave the shelter in time for the holidays due to Hannah opening up her home!

Lunchbox is settling into the cafe life at @getagato, enjoying all the playtime and snacks that come with it. While Lunchbox loves to hang out with her human friends, she does not seem to be the biggest fan of the other cat residents and would be happiest in a home where she is the only cat. But don’t worry, she is all the cat you could ever want! If Lunchbox’s unique torbie coat and striking green eyes don’t win you over, her loud purrs and playful, silly personality will. She has some boundaries when it comes to petting, so a home with young children also may not be the best fit for her. Lunchbox is ready for her forever family to pack her up and take her home! Apply now at https://farsaves.com/apply-to-adopt/

Welcome to love, Lunchbox!!!! Lunchbox was saved by our friend, and local cat rescuer, Irina this summer! Our foster @maisymousecat reached out interested in helping an easy cat that would be able to go to @getagato once their quarantine period was finished….and Lunchbox was the perfect fit!! She is settling in with her foster family already. She does have parasites, so she is being treated now so she can be in tip-top shape to enter the cafe once ready. She’s otherwise the most cuddly and loving little lady you will ever meet. Thank you Hannah for fostering her!! By taking her into the rescue, Irina is able to save another cat.

We know it’s late but we have to announce that Cannoli was adopted!!! Cannoli started his rescue journey as a @getagato cat but made it clear the cafe life was a little overstimulating for him and he was lucky to have @maisymousecat open their home to him as their first foster!! “I hope you had a great weekend! Attached are some photos of Bun making himself at home. He is purring up a storm and his goofy personality is coming out! We love him so much already.“ Our little Bun couldn’t be luckier!! Thank you Laurie, for saving him off the streets of South Philly. He’s alive today because of you ❤️

Fishtails is so lucky to have you all supporting us!!! Today we went through a sone of the donations to prepare pickups for fosters this week!! Thank you to everyone that has sent @fancyfeastcatfood kitten wet food earlier today, we appreciate you all. @broadstreetcats takes in countless cats intended for @getagato and needed @fancyfeastcatfood to feed her current crew. We also had litter she uses and some rescue to help her deep clean! @bebe_queenofdarkness cares for Marty’s colony and she also grabbed supplies for @maisymousecat’s foster and Rooster, Goose, and Halo in South Philly. Our new foster Molly is taking in Little Joe….as her first cat! We are putting together a first time foster kit for her, to make it easier to get started! And Falcor’s foster @jardyneofeden is taking two of our new kittens tomorrow, so we are stocking her up on litter, along with wet and dry kitten food! We were able to add treats and toys for everyone as needed too! You can also find individual foster wishlists for some of our fosters on our Instagram highlights, allowing you to send supplies directly to them. Fosters - don’t forget to reach out if you need something specific!

Cannoli has been with his foster a few weeks, decompressing and showing his true personality! They absolutely love him and know the perfect forever family is out there for him. From his foster mom - “He is a laid back guy, and just wants a calm environment where he can feel safe. But don’t let that fool you! After settling into his foster home, he has quickly transformed from a lethargic cat into a playful, high-energy goofball, who will crack you up as he bounces off the walls chasing wand toys.” Follow his foster family on Instagram at @maisymousecat! Cannoli was one of our Get A Gato cats who quickly let us know that situation wasn’t for him. The happiness and health of our cats is our biggest concern and we were incredibly lucky that friends met him at the cafe and opened their home to foster when they heard he had to move. He’s now thriving in the perfect foster home!
