🎥 Behind the Scenes at Industry Night! 🎙️

New residency? Who dis?

I recently kicked off my latest Industry Night podcast residency at the stunning a.kitchen + bar inside the Hotel AKA Washington Circle—from the award-winning Ellen Yin of High Street Hospitality Group (yes, that Ellen Yin: Fork, High Street, a.kitchen, the whole delicious empire). 💫

I’m filming four shows here throughout the year, and to say I’m thrilled is an understatement. Huge thanks to Ellen, Chef Eli Collins, and GM Diana Kendrick for the warm welcome and hospitality.

🎙️ On one episode:
We’re celebrated Women’s History Month with an incredible panel of powerhouse women from the DMV’s hospitality scene—many of whom are members of Les Dames d’Escoffier. We’re talking leadership, mentorship, and what it really takes to thrive in this industry.

💬 Meet the panel:
-Lori Gardner, President of Les Dames DC + longtime food writer
-Katherine Miller, food policy changemaker + Industry Night alum
-Micheline Mendelsohn, Deputy CEO of Sunnyside Restaurant Group (We The Pizza, Good Stuff, etc)
-Chef Danielle Turner, culinary content queen and CEO of Forklift Media

Before that, I sat down with Ellen and Chef Eli to chat about upcoming seasonal activations at a.kitchen + bar—stay tuned for some really fun things ahead.

🎬 And yes, I double-dipped:
Also recorded with Chef Juan Manuel Barrientos of Elcielo (DC and Medellín!)—a visionary chef, peace leader, and founder of an international Michelin-starred hospitality group. ✨

This comes on the heels of my recent trip to Medellín, where I explored everything from Colombian coffee farms to chrysanthemum fields—and indulged in incredible meals, thanks to Chef Juanma and his team.

📍I’ve now been to two Elcielo locations—just a few more to check off. Passport, ready.

More Industry Night residencies coming up:
🍸 Next week: The Return to Jackie
🌿 The following: Out to Fauquier County!

Hit play, subscribe, and follow along—because there’s always something cooking.

So honored to be invited to judge the midatlantic @speed_rack competition last night at @veraivycity in DC! Thank you @ivymix and @drinksat6 for including me in this amazing community that not only fosters connection but also has raised close to $2 MM to help fight breast cancer. The energy in the room was incredible! Thanks to team @a.kitchenandbardc for supporting and our own Cynthia Phillips for making the top 10!

Happy opening day to @a.kitchenandbardc! The newest addition to @therealellenyin’s @highstreethospitality family celebrates the seasonality of its home in the Chesapeake with seasonal American small plates, an inventive cocktail list spotlighting local ingredients and spirits, and an exciting list of organically farmed, low-to-no intervention wines. While the team’s hard work has been recognized by @beardfoundation, @wineenthusiast, @wine_spectator, and more, it has been truly remarkable to see their passion soar in building the a.kitchen+bar DC experience with dedication for and reverence to the vibrant local community — as we all know, some of the best connections are made over a meal 🍽️ 🤍
