The art of Listening to a Disgruntled Guest as a Maître D’ pls read 👇 1\. Be Present. Give the guest your undivided attention. Eliminate distractions and demonstrate genuine engagement. 2\. Listen Without Interrupting. Allow them to express their frustration fully. Don't become defensive or formulate your response before they've finished. 3\. Acknowledge with Empathy. Validate their frustration without necessarily agreeing with every detail. Make them feel heard, respected, and understood. 4\. Master Your Composure. Maintain calm body language, a measured tone, and professional demeanour. Never mirror their frustration. 5\. Take Ownership. Clarify the concern, accept responsibility for coordinating a resolution, and communicate the next steps with confidence. 6\. Close the Loop. Follow through on your commitments and confirm the issue has been addressed. Restoring trust is the objective. The Maître D’ Code: Listen with intent. Respond with composure. Resolve with conviction. THE ART OF COMPOSURE as a Maitre D' pls read 👇 You want to test someone’s character? Push a genuinely good person too far. But never mistake their silence for weakness. They’re not afraid of confrontation. They’re choosing self-control over unnecessary conflict. Remember this: kindness is not permission. Patience is not ignorance. And walking away doesn’t mean they haven’t noticed every line you’ve crossed. In life, leadership, and hospitality, composure is power. As a Maître D’, you must lead your team, manage the room, and protect the guest experience—even under pressure. Professionalism doesn’t mean tolerating everything. It means addressing challenges without compromising your character. Because sometimes, it’s not one incident. It’s the accumulation of everything left unaddressed. Never mistake restraint for weakness. Real class is revealed in how you carry yourself under pressure. And in hospitality, every interaction matters. Every guest matters. The art of Training a Maitre D'. Pls read 👇 You can’t expect five-star service from a team trained to deliver three-star standards. Let that sink in. You want professionalism? Demonstrate it. You want punctuality? Lead by example. And if you expect your team to deliver exceptional hospitality, then excellence has to start with the training. Because being a proper Maître D’ isn’t just about knowing the floor plan or managing reservations. It’s about composure, discipline, accountability, anticipation, and mastering the finer details that separate ordinary service from an exceptional experience. At Maître D’ Solutions, we don’t believe in simply filling a position. We believe in building professionals. That’s why we’ve developed an exclusive, in-person training class dedicated to the art of being a proper Maître D’ , where the standards are demonstrated, the details matter, and excellence is the expectation. Think you have what it takes to wear the title with distinction? Slide into our DMs. Let’s talk. Maître D’ Solutions: We don’t just teach the standard. We train you to live it. It's not what we are. It's who we are. **Thriving Tuesday** Pls read 👇 @ypoglobal You can recognize a champion by their achievements. But you recognize true greatness by how they make you feel. Meeting and listening to Andre De Grasse at @ypobc was a powerful reminder of that. @maitredsolutions had the honour of working alongside him, and what stood out wasn’t just his championship mindset: it was his humility, kindness, and quiet confidence. Because true excellence never needs to announce itself. It speaks through character. That’s the standard. That’s the difference. #MaîtreDSolutions #ChampionshipMindset #ExcellenceInAction #TheArtOfFirstImpressions Lucious Mani ~Maître D’ The Art of first impressions* June on Cambie 📧 reservations@juneoncambie.com IG:@luciousmaitredsolutions For consulting and VIP experience: IG:@maitredsolutions Yours in hospitality,

APPRECIATION OVER VALIDATION. Pls read 👇 As a Maître D’, not every reaction is about you. Some guests will praise you. Some won’t notice the details. Some will have expectations you simply can’t meet. Don’t take it personally. Your job is to deliver the experience with consistency, presence and professionalism, not to chase approval. Serve because you care. Lead because it matters. Appreciate the people in front of you. Validation is external. Appreciation is a choice. Stay on brand. Stay grounded. The Art of First Impressions. A few simple changes each day can change your whole life. Start with how you speak to yourself, how you see yourself, and the promises you keep to yourself. Turn down the outside noise the work starts within.

Pls read 👇 It took me into my 40s to understand this. I’ll give it to you in 45 seconds. If nobody sees you as an enemy, you're not important. If nobody talks about you behind your back, you're not relevant. If someone tries to take advantage of you, it's because you have value. It's a compliment. If someone tries to put you down, it just means you're already above them. Hate only comes from below, never from above. When they doubt you, it's because you're doing great things that they think are impossible to do themselves or gave up on themselves. And criticism? That's just admiration in disguise.
