This November, head down to San Diego for another edition of #SAM: Storytelling Across Media at @comicconmuseum! We’re excited to bring our Storytelling in Sound and Music panel for its 7th year to examine how composers translate story, character, and emotion into music, from developing a project’s musical identity to shaping individual moments through score.

The panel will feature composer @ericaporter_music (The Passenger, Drip Like Coffee), composer @ludekdrizhal (Starbright), founder and lead composer of @spacecataudio, @mattnovack, director/ composer @majdalany (La Pandora’s Box), and composer @philipwhitecomposer (Spa Weekend), and will be moderated by Kaya Savas, founder of Film.Music.Media.

What started as a dream, a script, and a group of people who believed in a story has become something truly special.

I’m incredibly proud to share that my directorial feature debut, One Guy, Too Many Dates, has received 16 pre-selections for the 2026 Premios La Silla, presented by ADOCINE in the Dominican Republic.

Including recognition in the categories of Best Comedy Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress, among others.

As a Dominican filmmaker, having our work recognized by my home country’s film industry means so much to me.

This film was made with passion, determination, sacrifice, and an incredible team who believed in the vision.

To our cast and crew: this recognition belongs to all of us. Thank you for being part of this journey.

I’ve always believed that we were put on this earth to dream boldly, take chances, use our gifts, and create possibilities that may not even exist until we dare to take that first step. ❤️

For me, stepping forward means saying YES to the opportunities that excite me, trusting the journey even when the path is unfamiliar, and having the courage to bring the vision in my heart to life.

That journey has led me into some extraordinary experiences across film and music. While in Los Angeles, I had the opportunity to attend multiple artist showcases celebrating creative projects being considered for the Grammy® Awards through the Recording Academy.

Sung by the extraordinary Shannon K and featuring my vocals, Step Forward is especially close to my heart. I co-wrote this powerful song with Grammy® Award winner Nadeem Majdalany, bringing a message to life that is at the core of everything I believe: sometimes, changing your life begins with one courageous step.

🎭✨ Some roles are more than a character. They’re a full-circle moment.

I grew up backstage and onstage, with my mother running our local theater and me immersed in the magic of storytelling from the age of four. Stepping into the character of Eleanor in Black Box was an absolute thrill! Shot in just one day, this short film takes you on a wild, surreal ride that brings imagination to life in the most unexpected ways.

But one of the most meaningful parts of this experience? My incredibly talented daughter, Alyssa Hipsky, was the costume designer! ❤️ Watching her bring her artistic vision to life through the colors, details, and personality of every garment made this journey even more special. Sharing the creative process with your child is a gift you never take for granted.

A heartfelt thank you to Andy Southern, our writer; Nadeem Majdalany, our director; Aron Meindhart, who captured the magic on film; and Luna Zhang, our producer, for helping bring this story to life. I loved sharing the set with the 9 Muses, including Shannon K, Alla Drokina, and Lydia Elle. Ching brought her incredible talent to hair and makeup, while my amazing costars, Andrew Keegan and Victor Rusak, made our time filming at the Victory Theater such a joy!

✨ My philosophy has always been that stepping forward doesn’t mean leaving your past behind. Sometimes, it means honoring the people who shaped you, embracing the gifts they passed on, and finding your own way to let that inspiration shine.

That’s what Black Box represents to me. A new character. A new creative adventure. A chance to collaborate with extraordinary artists. And a little piece of my mother’s passion for theater living on through me.

Moo, you taught me the magic of bringing stories to life. You showed me that the stage is more than a place to perform—it’s a place to feel, connect, and leave a little piece of your heart with an audience.

We never really lose the people who inspire us. We carry them forward in everything we create.
