This Sunday we open Révolte Naturelle. You are invited. Sunday 4 October, 15:00, @defirmagouda in Gouda, on view until 25 October. Four artists who don't make work about nature but with it: @majkeluethi , @sannevongent, @puuranders and me. Majke's audio story about trees, played on a walkman from cassettes made for the show. Miranda's herbarium of paper Mary plants without labels, so you look before you know. Sanne's collages and installations, worlds that feel familiar until you look twice. And my Fool's Gold. Pyrite shines like gold, but only from one angle. Turn it and the illusion is gone. Fool's Gold looks at that illusion in our economy: growth that shines, damage that stays hidden. The work doesn't show the damage, it carries it out in the making. A bramble that thrives on nitrogen gets golden branches and salt crystals. An emergency blanket shines like gold leaf. A Lehman Brothers bankruptcy document becomes a mordançage. And the exhibition doesn't just hang there. You can look, listen, write and make: Sat 10 Oct, 13:30 · Who's looking at whom? A symbolic plant booklet with Miranda van Dijk Sun 11 Oct, 14:00 · Haiku tree walk with Majke Lüthi Wed 14 Oct, 14:00 · Cyanotype introduction with me Sat 17 Oct, 14:00 · Phytograms with me Sun 25 Oct, 13:00 to 17:00 · Finissage: pull up a chair at the cutting table with Sanne, Miranda and Majke Small groups, no experience needed. Just curiosity. To sign up, mail me at henriblommers@yahoo.co.uk or send me a message. For Miranda's and Majke's workshops too, I'll pass it on. Come look on Sunday. Come back to make something. #revoltenaturelle #defirma #foolsgold #gouda #opening workshop experimentalphotography sustainablephotography analogphotography cyanotype phytogram mordançage herbarium haiku capitalism the_mirror_of_our_souls moody_captures contemplativephotography aintbad uncertainmag

OPGEBOMEN - @majkeluethi For @defirmagouda 01/10/2026

Opening Sunday 4 October, 15:00: Fool's Gold at De Firma in Gouda, together with Sanne, Majke & MIranda. Pyrite is called fool's gold because it shines like the real thing and is worth nothing. I think we have it the wrong way round. The shine is not the illusion. The value is. As you know this is the thing I keep circling back to, and it is still the worry I wake up with. An economy that has to keep growing will eat the thing it grows on, and we all know it, and we keep going, because stopping feels like losing and the damage happens somewhere we never have to look. For a while now I have been collecting the paperwork of that logic. Annual reports, bankruptcy filings, Lehman Brothers documents. And then giving it the shine it always pretended to have. Materials that were thrown away, made to look precious. Which is the trick, and also the point. (If you want to make something instead of despairing, I am giving workshops in the exhibition space itself, cyanotype on 14 October and phytograms on the 17th, both at 14:00.)
