POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I’ve spoken publicly about my experience with breast cancer several times over the years, mostly on behalf of the American Cancer Society, sharing how much their work helped me through my treatment.

But this time was different. I was invited to speak to women at Zonta Club; and for the first time, I had the opportunity to share my story in a much more personal and unfiltered way. Not just about cancer, but about losing people I love, finding joy in unexpected moments, and some of the lessons life has taught me through these experiences. Needless to say- I cried A LOT writing it.

And at the end of my speech I received a standing ovation. 🥹🫶🏻I was genuinely surprised and so incredibly touched. It made an already special experience even more meaningful.

At its heart, this speech is about something I’ve come to understand: that joy and pain can exist at the same time. We don’t have to wait for life to get easier, for the grief to disappear, or for everything to fall into place before we allow ourselves to experience the beauty of being alive.

I’m grateful to Zonta Club for giving me the space to share this part of myself, and to everyone who listened with such open hearts.

I hope something in my story resonates with you, wherever you are in yours. ❤️

I’ve uploaded the speech to YouTube if you’d like to watch. Link is in my bio. Or, https://youtu.be/OOHv6TA9WLA?si=Q7R5BafsGHBm3xbs 🫶🏻💕
