This is a model and base I just finished for a friendly painting competition put on by @monument_hobbies I thoroughly enjoyed this project for a couple reasons. One, most of the painting I did was the first time for the techniques and a lot of the colors. Also the first project I’ve done using exclusively Pro acryl products as far as painting goes. The basing bits I used I got from @make_it_epic and I have loved their files for 3d printing for a little while now. I painted this orc rogue in a dying swamp with the idea that he is in his element but stands out enough to be noticeable. Not too much but enough that he doesn’t just blend into the scenery. Much like how I am in my life and work. I’ve been in the military for over half my life at this point and doing the best I can while still blending with everyone and everything else has worked out pretty well so far. Hopefully someone enjoys this project and I look forward to learning even more on the journey.

The Black Legion Venom Crawler, freshly finished and straight off the painting desk.
I really like the fluorescent green tone, and I think I’ll be using more of it on future models.

Skittering and scuttling across the ruins of burning bastions. The Venom Crawler lies in wait, thirsting for prey in the name of the Black Legion and the Chaos Gods.

Just in time for the SPIEL gaming convention in Essen, Germany, the Venom Crawler is finally finished!

This time, I decided to try something a little different and experimented with some fluorescent inks for the absolutely awesome smoke and weapon effects from @deadlyprintstudio

The transparent, toxic look suits this little spider even better!

For the runes and other fluorescent details, I tried out the new Precision Fluor Panel Liners from @akinteractive.official
They work incredibly well.

Basing is done with bits from @make_it_epic

My Chaos Space Marines list gets closer to finally hit the battlefield.

A party of adventurers lure unfortunate souls of the undead into a trap to clear the path forward.

Getting excited for an upcoming campaign I will run with a pirate theme! 😎

Dankhold Troggoth vs. Baba Yaga • Best in Show🥇

I love some of the people I’ve met since I started going to my local WH store. Part of this challenge was to also play a sort of battle royale for three rounds with the character you chose for the contest. I’ve never played, never looked into how to play, and never thought I would play, but here we are two rounds in and killed in one shot but dealt a little damage. Haha it was actually kind of fun. Everyone was very helpful and patient teaching me.

But Troggy boy was kitbashed to be holding both the hut and his hammer. The hut’s legs were scaled down extensively and still printed amazing and I’m so happy to have been able to fit it in the piece. The hut was hand made from cut pieces of xps foam and trimmed wooden hobby sticks. The shingled roof was hand cut a laid down one by one. 🥲 I want to thank you guys who helped me with tips and ideas with this guy-you know who you are, and especially @miniaturesden who has helped my painting progress immensely.

I love the variety of products available to us in the community. Here’s some of the things I used to bring together my favorite project by far:
@grave.forge brushes
@loot.studios Baba Yaga’s Hut’s legs scaled down
@warhammerofficial duh
@akinteractive.official paints and swamp effects
@make_it_epic terrain foliage and trees
@zabavka_workshop swamp skull
@tilesfromthecrypt swamp terrain
@gamersgrass tufts

Rest of the Salamanders team. An unreal love for this Legion, Chapter and Primarch. Basing bits from @make_it_epic plus my first time with some limited water effects on the bases. Vulkan Lives.
