As you wrap up garden tasks for fall, swap some of your garden abundance!

Dig up plants you don't want anymore or divide up your perennials (it's good for them anyway).

Meet us downstairs at the Swissvale Library (1800 Monongahela) on Saturday, October 12 between 1PM-3PM for a fall plant swap.

- Bring plants to share and/or take home other peoples plants.

- Try to get plenty of roots and soil to share with your neighbor gardeners. Pot them up in clean pots.

- Label everything - plant names, variety and even photos if you got them. If you have tips or tricks for that specific plant, share them.

Examples of perennial plants that like to be planted or divided in fall: coneflowers, comfrey, joe pye weed, russian sage, shasta daisy, alliums, asters, hosta, phlox, bleeding heart, lamb’s ears, mint, hens & chicks, black eyed susan, daylily, iris, tulip, and other spring-flowering bulbs, corms, and tubers

Aside from the main plant swap, feel free to bring seeds or tools you want to share. We’re mostly thinking about outdoor garden plants, but if you have indoor plant cuttings or rooted indoor plants to share, that works, too.

Register at the link in our bio. (Not required but helpful.)

The Open Gardens part of the tour takes place on Saturday, August 7 from 11AM-3PM! (This is the part that will be a lot like the first tour in 2019, if you were around for that one.) There are 26 gardens on the tour (!), and you can visit as many or as few as you'd like. Attendees can check out the online guide or pick up printed guides at the Swissvale Farmer's Market (9AM-1PM) or at the Swissvale library (11AM-3PM).

🌿 Stay tuned for more updates on the Swissvale Edible Garden Tour! 🌿 Check out the full schedule, learn about our sponsors, and find other details at www.swissvale.org/garden-tour. See you soon! 🌿

✨We’re so excited for the Swissvale Edible Garden Tour! We’ve got a full weekend planned - here’s a sneak peek at the schedule.✨

There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to spend some time outside visiting and learning about gardens, which is our favorite thing to do. 🌿We hope to see you during Open Gardens on Saturday from 11AM-3PM - you’ll be able to view the guide online or pick up a printed copy at the farmers market or library. 🗺

🎉 We’re thrilled that @farmergirleb will be joining us for the kick-off evening on Friday! 🎉 Ebony Lunsford-Evans is an urban farmer and educator in Pittsburgh, who sells produce that she grows using natural methods at plots throughout the West End and North Side.

📣 Calling all parents of young kids - make sure to come out to the @swissvalelibrary at 1PM on Saturday to learn about pollinators and come to the community garden at 1PM on Sunday for activities with @misscassidycreates!

**We’re still looking for a few more volunteers! Send us a message if you’re interested.**

Find out more at www.swissvale.org/garden-tour - link in bio. Thanks to all of our amazing sponsors, who you’ll find listed on the site including @porterloves for developing the guide and a lot more! Check out our online shop - sales benefit the tour and community garden!
