🛸🫠🎱BMR018🎱🫠🛸 Make Mills (@makemillsmusic) - Breaking Away EP The 2nd EP from @blackmagicrecs alumni, @makemillsmusic, complete with the bonkers @carrier.signal remix is out today exclusively on our Bandcamp!! We could not be more thrilled to share this latest virtuosic effort with you all! Tracklist: 1. Breaking Away 2. Oh Jeez 3. Breaking Away (Carrier Signal Remix) @carrier.signal In March of this year, Make Mills broke into Black Magic’s catalog with his killer 2-tracker, Acid Talk / Polymagic (https://blackmagicrecs.bandcamp.com/album/acid-talk-polymagic). Now Make Mills is breaking away with a brand new 3-track EP and he has tapped BMR all-star, Carrier Signal, for remix duty. In “Breaking Away” and “Oh Jeez,” Make Mills leans further into his glitch-infused breakbeat style of drum programming, pairing it with bouncy and buoyant synth basslines and melodic hooks. “Oh Jeez” is where the ‘acid dial’ really starts to move, and then in true form, Carrier Signal cranks that dial all the way to 11 in his remix of “Breaking Away.” This EP packs a lot of ideas into a short runtime and delivers on each component with finesse and swagger. You’ll notice influences from hip-hop to early Rephlex Records expertly interwoven into something novel that aligns with the left turns we’re all about at BMR. MM’s Breaking Away EP is thoughtful and poignant yet complex and chaotic. We know you’ll enjoy this knockout release. Listening to what Make Mills has produced since our first introduction to his music has been a joy. We’re beyond thrilled that he tapped fellow Black Magic alum Carrier Signal for remix duties, both artists are fully qualified to launch you down an acid laced musical rabbit hole — enjoy your trip! We’ve got a hold on this one for six days before it breaks away! Afterwards, it will cost a bit more to bring it back down to Earth. ❤️ For TLC and the three you gave me ✍️🎧🎛️ Composed, Recorded, and Mixed by @makemillsmusic 🧬 Remixed by @carrier.signal 💿 Mastered by @ambivalent_kevin at @valence_studios 🎨 Album Artwork by @roobs.infinity 🎱 Black Magic Recordings | BMR018 #acid #breaks #breakbeat #techno #chicago #electronic #blackmagic

🎱🫠🛸BMR010🛸🫠🎱 @makemillsmusic - “Acid Talk / Polymagic” We are ecstatic to finally unleash this 2 tracker from @makemillsmusic for his debut on BMR!! Our 10th release is out now on our Bandcamp page! All streaming services will follow tomorrow. 🔗 in bio 🫠 When Acid Talks, we listen! Make Mills speaks 303 fluently across 2 crystal clear compositions reminiscent of early Rephlex and Warp records releases. When the synthesizer in Make Mills’ “Acid Talk (Solomon Mix)” first whispered its sweet nothings in our ears, we kept going back to hear what else was hidden between the notes. Whether it’s the drums, the samples, the lovely chords played by the pad, or that sweet, sweet synthesizer patch, “Acid Talk (Solomon Mix)” will speak to you! A single just wasn’t going to cut it this month, we had to deliver some bonus magic up front! On the flip, Make Mills pays careful attention to the drum programming in “Polymagic,” sprinkling in glimmers of brightness from an acid synthesizer sound and distorted samples. Make Mills demonstrates impressive restraint and production wizardry on the b-side track that is fully capable of standing on its own. Don’t snooze on “Acid Talk / Polymagic!” Before you can count to 303 — which should take you about six days by our estimate —, the price on this release will rise.
