‘Chevron’ car toy by @makersdepartment - part of the ‘Re-create’ exhibition.

The London Design Week and @shoreditchdt might be over but you can still visit our exhibition tomorrow.

This lovely piece celebrates the beauty of our timber in the form of a grown-up toy car - created to be displayed on a shelf.

Makers Department is a local industrial design consultancy, dedicated to designing and developing consumer products for businesses across the UK.

Solid Floor for @shoreditchdt: 'RE-CREATE'

Less than 2 weeks to go until #LDF kicks off again. For this year's #shoreditchdesigntriangle event we have given ourselves the task of coming up with a solution to our own waste materials.

We've asked designers to create novel objects utilising discarded bits – leftovers and offcuts from installations.

While generally considered waste, this material has inherent beauty and many uses. The exhibition’s objective is to showcase the allure of the different timbers with their various textures and colours via newly designed objects.

Expect to see different furniture pieces, sculptural mobiles and even a design that incorporates our waste timber and our waste paper!

Seen here is the work of one of the participants, @corrie__williamson. Her delicate mobiles will be suspended from the ceiling, which will give an interesting twist on timber initially produced for flooring.
