CBC Week, Part 3 | A Love Letter to CBC
Let me ask you something. When did you fall in love with CBC?

For me, it was about five years ago, and I knew right away it was something special. CBC isn’t just a conference. It’s a whole city taken over for a week.

Receptions across town, panels in the morning, a brunch here, a mixer there, and somehow you run into the same beautiful people everywhere you go.

It became a homecoming. The kind where you step into a reception and hear your name before you find your footing. Somebody’s coming at you with open arms. Somebody else is hollering, “I KNEW that was you!”

And just like that, you’re home.

Some of these folks have known me through several versions of myself. We’ve changed jobs, started businesses, moved cities, celebrated milestones, and lived whole lives between these photographs. Sometimes a year goes by without a word. Doesn’t matter. We pick up right where we left off.

That’s a particular kind of love.

And there’s nothing like being surrounded by your people. The ones who get it. Who understand the pride in what you’re building and the weight that comes with it.

You just get to be understood.

Now, don’t get it confused. We’re absolutely getting dressed, taking the pictures, holding court in the hotel lobby, making “one more stop” that is never one more stop, and promising we’ll link up before next year. We say it every single year.

But underneath the music and the hugs, something else is happening. We’re swapping business cards, making introductions that’ll matter long after everybody’s left Washington, and reminding each other that none of us is doing this work alone.

That’s what I carry back to South Carolina. The conversations. The encouragement. And the responsibility to do something with what I’ve been given.

The week happens in DC. Its meaning can’t stay there.

To everybody who made this year feel like home: I love y’all.

Happy CBC. Until the next homecoming. 🤎

In Hebrew tradition 18 is chai, life. 36 is double chai. Double life. you pour into everybody around you and somehow still got more to give.
I was intentional about this first picture in the collage. Peaceful. In the middle of planning a whole conference, in the middle of how people will try and disrespect, in the middle of motherhood, and carrying more than most people know. And the first thing you say is that “God is so kind.”
That’s you in one sentence. Everybody’s asking you to produce more and you’re over here finding gratitude in the peace anyway.
Victoria you are a true answer to prayer. In a world that pushes people to hustle and produce, you’re my peace. You’re the person hanging on the back of my neck with a huge smile in the middle of all the chaos we’re in together.
I say this every year and I’ll keep saying it. Great friend. Great mother. Talented creative. But this year I want to say something I don’t say enough. You are a great peace! I’ve watched people take your kindness for weakness. You are not nice. Nice is easy. You choose to be kind, on purpose, over and over, even when it costs you.
You’re a real black belt. Not just fighting. Fighting would be easy for you. I don’t think about fighting, I think about your discipline. I think about you taking things across the chin and turning the other cheek instead of turning bitter. I see the quiet behind the scenes. The tears, the stress. And you never bleed on other people because of it. You never make somebody feel a certain way because you feel a certain way.
Beautiful inside and out. I am truly grateful for you.
Happy birthday, Vic Here’s to 36. Double life.
