// MAKE COMPOST NOT LANDFILLS //

Composting helps reduce landfill methane and diverts organic matter from the landfill so it can break down properly.🪱This creates nutrient dense soil that can better support our gardens and food systems. It’s an important part of the fight against climate change. 🌍

Want to learn more about composting and how we can bring accessibility to St. Pete on a larger scale? 👀

This fall, leave the leaves! 🍂

By leaving the leaves in your yard, you are allowing the natural cycle of soil health regeneration to take place and are protecting the food and shelter of so many important species like bees, caterpillars, and lightning bugs.

Here are some leaf-friendly options:

🍂Let them be – Leave leaves under trees right where they fall
🍂Mow over them – Mulch leaves into your lawn to add nutrients back to the soil
🍂Rake into garden beds – Use them as free mulch to protect perennials and suppress weeds
🍂Compost them – Toss the leaves into your compost and use it on your garden next season. Check out MakeSoil to locate a composting site near you.

Spread the word - leaves are not litter!
