I was preparing to go into major surgery just as breast cancer awareness month kicked off in October 2025. Every major high street retailer was boasting pink ribbons in the windows but every shop I went into seemed to tell me they didn’t actually stock post-surgery mastectomy bras, but if I wanted something breast cancer themed there were some pink-ribboned pyjamas in the lingerie section.

It hit so hard that for all the awareness they were driving, they didn’t seem to offer any help to someone who was in the thick of it, trying to shop for a situation they never thought they’d find themself in. I felt let down and very isolated in a moment where everyone else seemed to be having fun in cute pink pjs.

I am in a very different place a year on and today I walked into @marksandspencer flagship Shoreham store and found not just one, but a whole post-surgery section including beautiful lace designs & friendly staff. And this is all the time, not just during breast cancer awareness month. I wish I had walked in here a year ago.

After my experience last year, when we did this photoshoot, I initially said, “I don’t want to do the pink thing.” But then we decided to own it and have some fun with it, for a month where I want people to know it can be possible to smile again after being plunged into darkness. It is possible to find a friendly store who really care about us. And I want to once again remind people to check under their arms. I never had a lump in my breast.

The month of October is still as important as ever. More young people are being diagnosed and absolutely buy those pj’s & have fun shouting about it. The work of @breastcancernow is offering so much hope in new research, funded by many, incredibly crucial, pink campaigns.

I have my DMs open to anyone who feels as lost as I did a year ago & now I have the strength, I am contacting the retailers that let me down to explain how I felt completely excluded from a campaign designed to help people like me. If you want to do something to help but don’t know what, @breastcancernow and @drlizoriordan are great resources.

Thank you @emmatunbridge & @makeup.by.belle_ for styling me in pink 💕🩷💗❤️

Grand Tour season over and out. What an utter frickin privilege and a joy and I cannot thank everyone enough who comes on this little ride with us. I am so damned grateful. Quite possibly my favourite season yet.

My friends took the term ‘showing up’ to a whole new level when I got my cancer diagnosis. I didn’t want anyone to see me so unwell so I told them not to come when I was too poorly to speak but, of course they still came. When I couldn’t put my own shoes on, they did it for me. When I couldn’t eat, they fed me. I will be forever grateful.

Not everyone made it into a selfie, but you know who you are ❤️❤️❤️

Cancer took a lot, but it couldn’t take my friends.
