Shy is one of my favourite people in the world, and two years ago I had the most incredible time photographing her getting married to Zaid.

Whenever I’m experiencing a moment I love, I think the memory of it will last forever. Inevitably, over time, the feeling is there, but the details disappear. Personally, I take photos so I have the visuals to support my memories. When I take photos for others, especially on their wedding days, that’s what I want to photograph. A visual map of everything that I can gather to support all the moments they live.

When I think of photos this way, I realise where I stand and what I look at will determine how a moment is immortalised. And that’s presuuuure!! Especially because the decision of what is important is not mine, it’s the people whose life I’m attempting to document. So the thinking of what photos to take and how to take them starts waaaay before I pick up my camera. I have to attempt to understand, at least in the context of what I’m documenting, who are the people I’m documenting, and I love it all.
