Official Trailer for I AM AMERICAN 🇺🇸🤍 In 1915, a young Japanese woman immigrates to America as a picture bride, believing she has finally found the place where she and her future family can build a life. Together, she and her husband work hard to establish a restaurant, raise American-born children, and pursue the promise of the American Dream. But after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the family discovers that citizenship and belonging cannot protect them when Executive Order 9066 is signed, their American life is dismantled, forcing them to confront what it truly means to be American. 🇺🇸 This film was made to honor and preserve the legacy of those who suffered this dark piece of American history, including my own family 🤍 Please help us spread the word about our film to the community 🤍 Its rare that our stories ever get told so please share this film far and wide so that anyone who wants to see it is able to 🤗 Thank for those who have continued to support our film. It’s been a week since I got to sing at the @nordicmuseum with an AMAZING cast of folks for Nordic Pop. Getting to vocally direct this show was a literal dream of mine, and I couldn’t be more proud of my girls, @griggsypoo, @jeaniezbeanie, @iriskymm and @sarahrudinoff for putting SO MUCH WORK into this, and absolutely crushing it. Singing harmonies is why I even got into this art form, and getting to tackle the prolific arrangements of @auroramusic, @sigurros, @bjork, @laufey, @abba, @robynkonichiwa, and @lykkeli was some of the most challenging and rewarding music I’ve ever had the honor of being a part of. To the Borealis String Quartet (@stravlnsky, @erynuait, @rosebellini, @geniuspluslove) and @splinterpercussion (@stormdacastle, @mitchellbeckmusic, @rebekah.ko) you were all were such a joy to work with, and really brought these insanely gorgeous Nordic songs to life. Special shout out to @stormdacastle, who arranged, performed, and helped coordinate all of this. You were such an amazing collaborator and supporter, and I’m so incredibly grateful for you. To @griggsypoo, thank you for the late night rehearsals and all of the love and support. I literally couldn’t have pulled this off without you as my right hand woman 💖 To @erinmarimba, our fearless producer, thank you for bringing this show to life. We literally couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thank you for our incredible sound and video team who made the day of show an absolute breeze, and to our incredible makeup artists, (@makeupbyakemi, @lucelovesfaces) and wonderful designers @0range.bl0ss0m and @diajay_, thank you for letting us be your blank canvas Thank you to @basil_kayi for helping run sound at rehearsals, filming content, and getting people to dance at the show. 💋 Hoping to grace another stage this year with this same outfit, so keep your eyes peeled 🍌✨ I know things are impossibly trying in this world right now, in this country. Sometimes it feels trivial to post about artistic endeavors, given the state of things, but it is through joy and community that we find the strength to carry on and fight for what is right.
