It was an honor to work with Jess and capture a portrait of where she is in this moment of her life. Jess asked if she could bring in her dog and, of course, I said yes. I love dogs so much, and my new studio building allows them, unlike my previous location, so I was excited for this session.

We created a series of timeless portraits of Jess, and then her mom brought Bear in. He mostly wanted to play, not sit for a portrait, but when he did, he absolutely nailed it. Look at those eyes looking right through me.

You could feel Jess’s love for Bear. I’m always fascinated by the relationships we have with our dogs. They really do become part of us. I can’t imagine life without them.

Thank you, Jess.

I’ve shared a lot about my dear friend Katie Klein, the makeup artist I work with on nearly every shoot. Together, we’ve worked with hundreds of people at a moment of vulnerability, sitting for a studio portrait.

Today I want to share her daughter, Trinity.

I photographed Trinity in the fall of her senior year. She’s now finishing her first year at CU Boulder.

She’s mature beyond her years. Thoughtful, grounded. A student, a musician, and a composer. Katie has shared her music with me, and I got to hear her play a bit in the studio. She already has a sound of her own, which is rare at that age.

I don’t photograph high school seniors often, but I always enjoy it. The ones I’ve worked with carry a level of confidence and self-assurance I didn’t have at that age. They feel more aware. More themselves.

There’s a narrative that this generation is buried in their phones. I see something different. I see a group pushing back, leaning into something more real. It gives me a lot of hope.

Trinity, it was an honor.

Mountain-loving couples — what if your venue protected your peace, not just your date?

A beautiful view is important.
But what protects your experience when timelines shift, vendors need direction, or weather changes unexpectedly?

At La Joya Dulce, we believe a venue should do more than host your wedding.

It should:
• Anticipate stress before it happens
• Guide decisions with clarity
• Lead calmly when pressure rises
• Protect your ability to stay fully present

Luxury isn’t just aesthetic.
Luxury is certainty.

If you want to understand what that actually looks like in practice…

DM “GUIDED” and we’ll send you our full Guided Experience overview."
