After our first nominations in 2023, @cor.ece and I conceived the Annual Jam as a response to how inaccessible Grammy weekend can feel for indie, BIPOC, and queer creatives. It also became the launch for @wvzmfg — me and @makewvz’s answer for an outdated music publishing model — built to prioritize access, community, education and visibility for independent artists from underrepresented communities. That spirit grew into WVZ Weekend, a slate of programming designed to do that work on music’s biggest weekend. Instead of waiting for access, we built rooms. Three years later we’re still building, refining the design, and committed to getting stronger with each season. I’m grateful to every artist and partner who has taken this journey with us, and our families for loving, supporting and keeping us on road. Special shout to @dexterbrownfoto and @channingross for seeing the beauty in this purpose and making sure our community shines. #makeWVZ #iamtheacademy #wvzmfgannualjam #songwritingcamp #getabowl
