Two thousand and sixteeen! A year of lots of gardening, telling jokes and crying! But many bright spots: I went to Portland with my girl Kat, I turned thirty and filled my place in East Van with loved ones, I went on one of my favourite camping trips ever with my brother & his family, sweet Cara painted a portrait of me (!), I ran a silly show downtown for a bit with two of my comedy buds, and I dunno… other stuff. Not a particularly extraordinary year, but in retrospect, not a bad one! Also, I still have those poppy seed heads 😍

This was a perfect ending to our eco art and writing retreat — a Boreal Poetry Garden walk with Marlene Creates! She was spritely and generous, a most wonderful host, leading us around her patch of Boreal forest and reading poems about listening. Feeling grateful.

“Being creative is not so much the desire to do something as the listening to that which wants to be done.” -Ani Alber Join myself and art therapist, Katrina Grabner, for 3 days of slowing down and listening through art making, poetry explorations, and eco-pauses in community and in solitude. The retreat will take place at the beaiutiful Ochre House Retreat in Ochre Pit Cove from May 23nd, 7pm (Friday) to May 26th, 3pm (Monday). Since this is an intimate retreat with only 8 other retreatants, you will need to go through an application process. If you are interested, please apply as soon as you are able, to hold your spot. What you can expect: Our days will begin and end with a circle time together, and will include invitations to explore through art making and writing prompts. There will be some outside exploring, as well as your own free time. Food will be provided. You can expect us to co-create a safe and respectful environment where we provide gentle direction and support. This is a retreat for slowing down and being open to what might emerge. It is not a retreat for coming in with premade plans of all the writing or art work that you will produce. This is not a retreat about artistic production. You can find the costs and other information on the form — link in bio. If you are interested in attending, please fill out the the form and apply. We will get back to you via email within two weeks to confirm your spot. Once selected, you can e-transfer the funds to secure your place. Still have questions? Please send them along to Christina at christinawells76@gmail.com We hope to see you there!
