Week 6 - coffee shop renovation
It was a rainy week in Peebles! But we’re really starting to see some progress now.
Doug finished building the bar this week, and I think it looks brilliant. The bit that drops down will become our cake display. My big job was plastering! I did a plastering course last year, which has certainly come in handy.
My mum came down from the Highlands to help (and learn a bit herself) It’s hard & messy work, but so satisfying seeing the end result.
We used a lime plaster that gives a lovely natural, slightly textured finish. It’ll dry to a warm, neutral beige, so we won’t need to paint it. There’s still a little bit left to do, but the bulk of it is finished! We also painted the ceiling in the back room, cut channels for the new wall light wiring, and swapped out the handle and letterbox on the front door. Next up: finish plastering (including the ceiling crack), wall panelling in the back room and tiling the bar. Oh - and our coffee machine is being fitted next week!! It’s all happening.
P.S. @makitauk if you can’t tell, my husband is a big fan... just putting that out there 👀
