This is how we celebrated Day of the Dead at Nest ...

We gathered together as a community to decorate our altar, honoring the beauty of this tradition. Monica guided us through the meaning of each element of the altar, after which Luz shared her knowledge and cultural heritage with us. She is from Michoacán, one of the regions in Mexico most deeply rooted in Día de Muertos traditions, and we were grateful for her presence and the opportunity to learn from her!

After gathering around the altar, we recieved in a cleansing ritual done by Melani and Chris to release negative energy and invite peace, unity, and presence. We then enjoyed delicious cacao cooked by Eli and other Nest team memebers with Pan de Muerto, sharing a moment in the company of each other.

This celebration was shaped by connecting hearts, hands, and intentions of mutliple people. Together we rememberd loved ones who are no longer in the physical world yet remain alive in our memories.

Thank you to everyone who joined, participated, supported, or simply spent a moment with us that day. We will continue to hold our loved ones in our hearts and welcome their presence again next year!

I’m staying in a hostel for the first time, and I think this is one of the worst things that can happen to someone there.
I never used to stay in hostels because I always had the feeling that it’s just not for me.
And still, I wanted to have the experience at least once in my life.
So I travelled alone to Mallorca and stayed in a hotel first.
And three days later I thought: “Okay, now or never,” and then I booked a hostel.
In the beginning everything was still so new and I hardly dared to leave my room, but it didn’t take long until I found my people.
I met a group of French people and a few Germans that I connected with really well.
We ate together, laughed, partied, explored the island together and talked about all kinds of things.
It really felt like we had known each other forever.
And now that most of them have left, I suddenly just feel so sad and empty, because I don’t know if I will ever see them again or if we will ever experience something like this again.
And still, I’m incredibly grateful for this time.
And I think that’s the worst thing about hostels.
You can build such deep connections that disappear just as quickly.
You meet people you will never forget, and in the end you have to learn to let go.
