It was an honour for me to be part of the 2nd edition of avant-garde’s fashionshow by @culturelles_mtl ! Big S/o to the amazing & inspiring team behind the scenes that took great care of us & made this happen! It was such a fun experience, I met so many beautiful souls 💖

Thank you @maycie.ann_x0 for the modeling 101! It was a great learning experience for someone coming out of their comfort zone! I hope I delivered malgré le stress 😭 🙌🏾

À travers plusieurs épisodes, découvrez les designers de la 2e édition du défilé Avant-Garde 🪡 :

Episode 2 - Malaïka
@malaikaburi a toujours été passionnée par la mode. Quand elle était enfant, elle adorait dessiner des silhouettes, de beaux vêtements, des drapés. C’était donc naturel pour elle de choisir la mode comme trajectoire idéale pour sa vie. À l’âge de 14 ans, elle a appris à coudre et à 17 ans, elle a déménagé seule à Montréal pour étudier en design de mode. Les dernières années ont été une période de découverte personnelle, d’amélioration de ses techniques et d’ouverture à différents styles. Pour elle, la mode, c’est mettre en morceaux son imagination : c’est un moyen de s’exprimer, de faire passer un message et d’augmenter sa confiance en soi.

Episode 2 - Malaïka
@malaikaburi has always been passionate about fashion. As a child, she loved drawing silhouettes, beautiful clothes, and drapery. So it was only natural for her to choose fashion as her ideal career path. At age 14, she learned to sew, and at 17, she moved to Montreal on her own to study fashion design. The past few years have been a time of personal discovery, refining her techniques, and embracing different styles. For her, fashion is about bringing her imagination to life: it’s a way to express herself, convey a message, and boost her self-confidence.

Ibïkire by Burigusa🌟!

For the first edition on Avant-Garde, Malaïka Burigusa presented a collection exploring a combination of different materials and recycled materials, including patch-work, working with layers, embroidery and crochet details. Her work focuses on repurposing and upcycling second-hand clothing and materials — creating pieces that align with her creative vision and identity.
