गज़ल...
तुम्हीं कहो, ये क्या है...
बात बात पे चुप होते हो ये एहतियात क्या है,
नज़र में इश्क़ है पर जुबान पे ये इन्कार क्या है।

तुम्हीं कहो कि मेरी याद से परहेज कैसा,
जो दिल में कुछ नहीं तो ये इंतज़ार क्या है।

हमारी ख़ामोशी को तुमने फ़साना समझा,
तुम्हीं कहो,ये आँखों का इज़हार क्या है।

वो एक नाम जो होंठों पे आ नहीं सकता,
उसी के ज़िक्र से दिल में ये ख़ुमार क्या है।

हमने तो माँगी थी बस एक उम्र की क़ुर्बत,
दर्द-ए-जुदाई का ये इख़्तियार क्या है।

अगर मोहब्बत नहीं, तो ये दर्द कैसा है,
और दर्द भी नहीं तो फिर ये प्यार क्या है।

मुजरिम तो फिरेंगे सड़कों पर मासूम ही मारे जाएँगे
अश्फ़ाक़ भी दौर-ए-हाज़िर के ग़द्दार पुकारे जाएँगे
In these lines, the poet reflects on the harsh irony of an unjust society, where the truly guilty may continue to walk freely while innocent people are made to suffer and die. He suggests that history often labels people according to power and political circumstances rather than truth. Even those who are sincere and innocent can be branded as traitors, while the real criminals escape accountability. The verse carries a deep sense of injustice, helplessness, and the tragedy of truth being decided by those in power.
