Ahead of my regular classes starting up again next week, I thought it might be nice to share a little about my journey to becoming a yoga teacher and my training and experience.

I was first introduced to yoga as a teenager living on Dartmoor by family friend and wonderful Ashtanga teacher Yasmin Kay @malashalayoga in the mid 00s. It wasn’t until a decade later in London - when I found myself battling with the usual stresses of living in a big city - that I truly discovered the enormous benefits of yoga, and it became an essential part of my life.

After falling in love with the city - I moved to Berlin in 2016 and in January of 2017 I briefly fled the snowy European capital to enrol in a 200 hour yoga teacher training with Frog Lotus International @froglotusytt in the sunny Andalusian hills. Back in Berlin, I took part in a mentorship programme with my brilliant asana and meditation teacher Victoria Larsson @swanmountain_ before I began to teach my own regular classes.

After moving back to the UK I completed my Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli @umadinsmoretuli in the autumn of 2018 while pregnant with my first child.

I now live on Dartmoor where I spent my childhood. Since having my son and daughter I’ve been rediscovering my yoga practice with the curiosity and patience required as a mother of tiny people.

In 2021-22 I was enrolled in a year long Yoga Therapy Diploma with the Devon School of Yoga.

My last couple of trainings have been in embodiment and this is everything to my approach. I’m very grateful to Marcella @embodied_practices , Gemma @ancestral_body , and Calli @calliyoga who have all guided me on this part of my path.

The big 4-0 ✊❤️✨

Feeling quite grateful to have made it this far despite quite a lot. Also quite tired…! #40

As we are hit with the news that we have two years left to save our future from the worst climate scenarios, everything can feel too frequently bleak. But what has and will always get me through is nature and community.

It’s hard to breathe without the wild abundance of creatures and plants and landscapes and skyscapes… and equally hard to imagine life being rich without my beautiful, beautiful family and friends. ❤️❤️❤️

(And trifle. Hard to imagine a world without mountains of birthday trifle)

Words from one of last years participants:

"Absolutely wonderful range of activities, having the ability to connect with nature in such beautiful surroundings added an extra special element. Singing in nature was particularly nourishing, I loved the nature rituals, the thought you put into creating these and weaving them through the whole weekend made them all the more powerful, that combined with the beauty and magic of the natural landscape. I felt that little touches like a fire ceremony and sharing circles really bonded the group together and gave a depth of purpose to the retreat."

Blissful Ecstatic Kirtan! 😂

Charlie and I had very different journeys of being called into this beautiful heart centred, musical yoga path... The path of love and devotion, known as Bhakti 💖

Both rich in the beautiful magnificence, and challenges of life...

Looking at this joyful memory, I am reminded of the power of prayer, when weaved into this devotional singing practice.

I sat for many hours, singing my heart out, with the prayer for a percussionist... A beloved... A life partner to share this journey with.

I am grateful for the day Charlie walked into the yoga studio and sat by my side for our first shared kirtan. And at the end spoke simply and clearly words that were music to my years... "I can produce your mantra album" 🥰

As I write this post he is beavering around in the studio chatting about getting the next album recorded... "right let's start recording Ho'oponopono" 💜

So... onto the next studio album we go!

AND... I am excited to announce that plans are being made for a Learn To Lead Kirtan Apprenticeship 😁🙏 DM me if you're interested, and I'll share more info soon.

Blessings on your day.

Namaste and Love,
Elise 🙏💗

Beautiful memories of our 'Hope Love Faith' mantra album kirtan concert in Devon, on 3 April 2022.

Thank you again to everyone who came and joined in the celebration! Also to our wonderful host @AngelineWolfe, our bass player Andrew Pearson, and the amazing team of Goddesses who helped everything run so smoothly including @lottie.finklaire @emilykatsunoyoga Helen, @camillarosesignwriter and Elise's mum!

Here we are singing the Hare Krishna mantra ~ Krishna being the God of Love! 💞

“Do not kill the instinct of the body for the glory of the pose.” These words from the incredible Vanda Scaravelli came to mind when I was playing with Pincha this morning.

I’m feeling into the spring energy and weaving some stronger stuff into my practice at the moment, but I’m also kind of out of practice after a slower paced winter. So whilst this image might show the best frame from quite a few failed attempts to get upside down. It’s really not about the pose. Being playful, jumping about, rolling around, throwing my legs over my head are all just a wonderful ways to drop my awareness into my body and enjoy the springy energy whilst I feel it.

Anyone else feeling a literal spring in their step lately? ☀️

Dance, Dance, Ecstatic Dance!💃

We named him "DJ Therapist" on our retreat 😂

Rocking out all our favourite Ecstatic Dance tunes, on the big celebration night, where we shared cacao ceremony, kirtan, ecstatic dance and sound healing!

I could say this was a highlight, but the WHOLE RETREAT was a highlight 😂😂😂 quite literally of our lives, individually and together.

We are still swirling in the overwhelming love, joy, friendship, appreciation and deep connections that everyone made, and we are just beyond words with gratitude for everyone who helped bring this Gaia Vibrance retreat at @embercombeuk to life! From the team, to the participants, to the land and all the unseen forces that meant it had to be here, it had to be now, and it had to be with these hearts and souls for it to be as magnificent as it was.

We will share more photos soon when we receive them from our photographer @lolita_parslow but for now here is a little sneak peak at us wildly flying round the dance floor with Mr Charlie B on the decks guiding us into ECSTACY!

LOVE LOVE AND MORE LOVE TO YOU ALL ❤️💛💚💙💜

💜 RETREAT, RETREAT RETREAT! 💜

With only a few spaces left now up for grabs, we are getting increasingly excited to be holding our first 'in person' retreat in almost 2 years!!!

Join us at Embercombe @embercombeuk 12-15 August for yoga, kirtan, ecstatic dance, sound healing, nature connection, lake swimming, vegan organic food, private accommodation and more...

This is one of the only chances this summer to sing and journey with us in person before we take a long break from holding events to welcome our baby in the autumn. And we are nearly fully booked - so get in touch today if you wish to join us!

We welcome our dear friend Yasmin @malashalayoga who will be teaching some of the yoga sessions 😍

(thanks to @phoebes_path for the photos)

In the name of LOVE 💖

We had plans to be married with a big wedding in May, but had to let go of our large gathering vision (just for now) for all the obvious reasons...

So instead we hare having little ceremonial celebrations and blessings to celebrate our love 🤩💕

Thank you @emilykatsunoyoga and @malashalayoga for making this one SPECTACULARLY special! 😂💖🙏😘😍💕💍💒

I am so grateful for your friendship 🙏🦚🐇🎶😎
