🌺Welcome to the Namahana ʻohana, Malia!🌺

We’re so excited to welcome Kauaʻi-born and raised professional surfer, entrepreneur, and community advocate Malia Manuel to the Namahana Education Foundation Board! 🌊🤙🏽

From growing up surfing in Hanalei to competing on the world stage, Malia has always carried her love for Kauaʻi and Hawaiʻi with her. Now, she’s bringing that same aloha and passion home to help create meaningful opportunities for our keiki. 💙

We’re incredibly excited to have Malia join the Namahana Board and bring her voice, perspective, and heart as we continue building the future of Namahana School. 🌱

Mahalo nui, Malia, for joining our team! We’re so stoked to have you with us! 🌺

Want to learn more about Malia? Read her full bio at Namahana.org.

Who actually rules Cloudbreak? By heat-win rate across the CT era, the USA tops the nations (73%) — and the men's board is led by Luke Egan (82%), with Johanne Defay heading the women (79%).

Heat-win rate = the share of heats a surfer (or nation) has won at the venue — min 20 heats for the men, 8 for the women, byes excluded. It rewards the grinders as much as the champions: Kelly Slater sits 5th here by rate (79%) — yet he's still won Cloudbreak more times than anyone (four). Different question, different board. (Boards cover the CT era we track: men from 2000, women from 2014.) Next up, the Corona Fiji Pro, Aug 25.

Swipe for the men's & women's boards. Follow for who's won the most here (that's a whole other post).

There is no substitute for getting outside. Be it on a motorcycle, at the beach, or just relaxing with a pal playing chess. Get in the sun, get out there, get after it.

Huntington Beach: 95% of US Open of Surfing champions since 2000 have gone on to the WSL Championship Tour.

It's happening right now. Since 2000, 39 surfers have won it across 50 titles (2020 cancelled) -- only two never made the CT: 2025 champion Levi Slawson, still an active competitor who might yet get there, and 2015 champion Hiroto Ohhara, whose three US Open wildcard runs were never part of a CT qualification bid.

A third of them -- 13 of 39 -- also became world champions. And the few who weren't CT surfers yet when they won? Every single one broke through within two years.

Whoever wins Huntington Beach this year just bought a ticket to the next chapter. Save this to see where it leads.

🌊 Grey skies, clean waves, and pure freedom. 🏄‍♀️ @maliamanuel
Not every perfect surf session needs sunshine. Sometimes, the best moments happen under cloudy skies, with nothing but the sound of the ocean and the next wave waiting ahead.
Two surfers, one passion, and endless ocean vibes. The weather may be grey, but the energy is unforgettable.
Would you paddle out even on a cloudy day? 🌊👇
