This was one of the best singalongs of the night at @malloryseverson and @zac_severson’s wedding but I have so many questions. 😂

How did a country song from 1983 become one of the biggest singalongs for college students and twenty-somethings?

Who started the chant?

How did everyone just… collectively decide to learn it?

And how did it get personalized for different colleges? I’ve heard so many versions. 😂

And how does literally EVERYBODY know exactly when it’s coming? 😅

I’m genuinely fascinated by how songs evolve.

Sometimes it’s a movie.

Sometimes it’s TikTok.

Sometimes it’s a sporting event.

And sometimes a song just develops a whole second life that the original artists probably never saw coming.

For the record…

I’m not complaining one bit. 😏

Watching an entire wedding crowd scream lyrics that aren’t even in the original recording is one of those weird, wonderful things that makes DJing so much fun.

Music has a funny way of taking on a life of its own.

And Dixieland Delight by Alabama is proof of that. 🎶🤠
