Cheers to one helluva ride! Let me start by saying that the past year has been the most mentally demanding year yet. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows you know! In September of 2021, I finished my first van…The van that I built with the intention of taking to Colorado and becoming an ultra marathon runner. Oh how things change. Soon after building it, I sold the van partially because I lost my vision and partially because I saw I had a skill for building. 2 days later, completely unplanned, I bought a brand new 4x4 sprinter. Excited, scared, and not feeling prepared are understatements to how I felt driving back to San Diego. I almost went into a panic trying to figure out my layout and design, how much to put into it, how I would sell it, and so on. I was now homeless sleeping on the floor in Shaiden’s van and on the insulation in my empty van. I was so overwhelmed after 2 weeks of this that i started a multi month cycle of randomly traveling around the world to get away from it all for awhile. The truth is during all my times in these countries, resting at the back of my mind was my van and the fact that I needed to build it. It stressed me out so much that I found myself partially building it here and there not making much progress. After 7 months of this, I finally decided to move up north and isolate myself in the hills at my grandparents. I worked out of my grandpas old woodshop and this is where I found my rhythm. It felt like heaven. I worked night and day 12-14 straight, 7 days a week with no distractions and minimal contact. This is where I learned so much about myself and building. Taking my skills to the next level and even learning how to use my grandmas sewing machine to sew my cushions lol. Anyways the van came to a close and I hope you guys enjoy this build 🙏🏽 This would not be possible without the help from so many of my friends!
