These are the most powerful businessmen in Barbados 🇧🇧

Across construction, banking, manufacturing, energy, tourism, retail, financial services and infrastructure, these men exercise significant influence over capital, companies, employment and economic decision-making in Barbados.

At No. 1 is Mark Maloney, Executive Chairman of the Maloney Group, whose interests span construction, property development, infrastructure and manufacturing, making him one of the country’s most influential private sector figures.

At No. 2 is Ralph ‘Bizzy’ Williams, founder and Chairman of Williams Industries, one of Barbados’ most diversified business groups, with interests across multiple sectors.

Mark St. Hill, ranked No. 3, is CEO of CIBC Caribbean, a major banking institution operating across 12 Caribbean countries.

At No. 4, André Walcott serves as CEO of Williams Industries, exercising executive authority over a diversified corporate group with a substantial Barbadian presence.

Roger Blackman, ranked No. 5, is Managing Director of Barbados Light & Power, placing him at the centre of the country’s essential electricity infrastructure.

But this is not simply an index of the wealthiest businessmen or the most senior executives.

The ETC Barbados Power Dataset evaluates the scale and economic importance of the institutions these individuals influence, their ownership and decision-making authority, the resources under their stewardship, their employment and institutional reach, and their wider leadership impact.

Using six weighted dimensions, the Dataset examines how economic power is exercised through ownership, corporate leadership, investment decisions and authority over strategically important businesses.

The result is a research-driven assessment of business power, not popularity, celebrity or personal wealth.

These men are helping shape the businesses, institutions and economic decisions that will influence Barbados’ future.
