Theme:

From snowbound peaks, the Monal descends, following warmth through valleys blooming in colour.
Among returning wings, it finds children singing beneath the winter sun. This is Ghughutiya, a celebration woven through birds, earth, and belonging.

What began as a journey for warmth becomes a homecoming.

Today, the air is thick with a quiet, heavy grace,
As I looked at each familiar, hopeful face.

We held a steady hand, sometimes through storms,
Watching your most creative ideas finally take form.
We’ve spent months in the trenches, the drafts, and the heat.
Now the journey is finished, the circle complete.

They say a Guide’s job is to provide the map, but watching you all over these past few months, I realized you were busy inventing entirely new territories.

It’s a bittersweet threshold we’re standing on now,
As you take your last walk and your final, deep bow.
My heart is a compass that’s spinning in two—
One half is breaking as I say goodbye to you,
But the other is soaring, a wide, open sky,
Gazing in fierce pride as you finally take flight and fly.

The studios will feel quieter, the chairs feel too bare,
But I know that the world needs the light that you share.

Go change every system, go design with your soul,
While I stay behind, feeling empty yet whole.
You’re no longer my students; you’re the stars on the wing,
Go show all the others what a brave heart can bring.

She came this morning, with this sweet, quiet sketch thanking me for simply believing in her work. It paused my day.

Yet, what else is the job, really? The academic path, with its juries and critiques, so often focuses on what is missing—the gaps in the argument, the flaws in the execution. But the essential task of a teacher is to hold the complete vision, to see the finished work before the student can, to perceive the best version of themselves already existing within the rough draft.

And, belief is not a gift we bestow upon a student; it is, rather, the baseline—the essential, unmarked table upon which the difficult work must begin. It is not an act of grace; it is an act of necessity. We hold the light so they can finally see their own path, their own power. And in the end, it is they who perform the true miracle: validating that initial, quiet faith…until they can finally ignite their own.

That note reminded me that the hardest thing to teach isn’t how to write the bibliography or where to place the pause or where to cut the shot; it’s the quiet permission to be good. To be excellent. You don’t thank the surgeon for using a clean scalpel, just as you don’t thank a teacher for seeing potential. It is the fundamental instrument of the trade.

So, thank you for your thanks, but know that you were the architect of this shift. I only held the blueprints steady.

Now, go build something monumental.
