Seeing Porter Lee’s listed as a finalist for Best Local Crafter in the @willametteweek is such a huge win for me. 🥹🤗

Of course I had to run out and grab my copy of Willamette Week Best of Portland issue the second it came out. Seeing so many incredible local businesses being celebrated is such a good reminder of what makes Portland so special!! 💖

We just got news that we were a finalist for Best of Portland, and we are absolutely blushing! 🥰 There are so many wonderful indie bookstores in Portland and to even be considered amongst them, let alone land in the top three, absolutely FLOORS us. This wouldn't be possible without our amazing community that continues to show up and shower us with love. We are so lucky to have each and every one of you and each member of our team is SO grateful to share the utter delight that is reading with you. There is truly no where else we'd rather be! ❤️

Of course, we also want to congratulate @bside_records_vintage, @madeinmilwaukie, @mamaandhapas, and @milwaukiecafe on their recognition as well! 3 ways that I’m practicing sustainability and learning with my kids!

1. Shopping second hand! There are so many amazing shops and so many generous people! Trying to show my kids that we don’t need to buy new, and we can pass on our things to someone else.

2. Zero Waste Shopping! We go to @mamaandhapas to refill our own containers; dishwasher fluid, hand soap and dish soap, body wash and shampoo, laundry detergent and home cleaning supplies! Check them out if you’re in the Portland area or find a local Zero Waster shop by you!

3. Easy choice today! Should we bike? Did we turn off the lights? Let go on a walk in the park to pick up trash. What can we compost or recycle?

My daughter wants to help the planet, so I’m going to try to find the ways that she can make an impact.

Life is beautiful when you let it be 💖

This season of life has been dedicated to the journey of what health and happiness is to me, which has looked a lot like…

•Consistency with tending to both my physical and mental wellbeing.

•Researching food sourcing and making the change to shopping only locally/independently owned businesses.

•Switching out any unethical products with eco friendly ones.

•Distancing myself from relationships that hindered my growth, and investing in ones that bring a positive influence.

•Replacing literally all of my vices with healthy habits.

•Embracing my spirituality and practicing what I preach.

•Appreciating the little things rather than overlooking simple enjoyments.

•Exuding positivity by doing selfless acts of serving to others in ways that bring light to their life.

•Removing any hate in my heart, and fill it only with unconditional love instead.

Change is a never ending process, and with each change made brings both confidence and happiness. There always room for self growth and I’m not claiming it’s easy, but I am saying it’s worth it. Don’t give up when it gets difficult, because overcoming those obstacles will pay off in the end.
