This book completely pulled me in from the very beginning. Shawn’s obsession with Kara, his protectiveness, and the way he simply could not stay away from her made their relationship so intense and addictive to read. It wasn’t only physical attraction either you could really feel how deeply he cared about keeping her safe, even when Kara kept trying to protect herself emotionally.

I also loved how well this story connected to the first book while still feeling complete on its own. Everything flowed together perfectly, and that ending left me desperate for the next installment. The teaser alone was enough to convince me that I’ll be reading the next book the second it comes out. At this point, I already know this is becoming a full trophy series for my shelves.

And the audiobook honestly made the experience even better. The full cast duet narration brought so much life and emotion to every scene. You could feel the tension, fear, longing, and chemistry so clearly that it became impossible to stop listening. I planned to spread it out over a few days, but every chapter ended in a way that forced me to keep going. Before I knew it, I had listened to almost the entire book in one sitting.

Chocolate City Lit Fest was full of the kind of moments you don’t rush through. You just sit in them and smile.

From the hugs (you know the ones), to meeting new readers & reconnecting with faves, to finally linking up with people who have only existed on my timeline... it all felt real in the best way.

And getting that time with my sister? Always top tier 😌

There’s something special about being surrounded by Black love, Black joy, and Black women showing up as their full selves. It fills you up in a way that lasts long after the weekend is over.

Already ready to do it all again 💜

ICYMI: I was a participating author @chocolatecitylitfest this weekend, and let me tell you—we had a time!

Not only did I run into some of my favorites (so many authors & bookstagrammers I adore and now get to call friends plus readers I’ve had the pleasure of meeting before), I also finally got to hug a few people I’ve only known virtually... which is always its own kind of magic.

And the new readers (shout out to all my new followers)?! Y’all had me cracking up. From Erika Kane to those old-school Harlequin Fabio covers, the conversations were top tier. But my favorite part might have been meeting women who told me they’re going to start asking themselves, “What’s the best that can happen?” and finally go after the scary things they’ve been holding back on. That right there meant ✨️ everything ✨️ to me.

I also got to meet the owner of @pagesandvolumesdc, the onsite bookstore/bookseller, and learned they recently celebrated two years in business. What a beautiful milestone.

Bonus: QT with my sister, who was truly the perfect assistant. 5 stars!!

THEN, to top it all off, later that night, I went to PJs and Book Baes, a romance writers/readers event that was just too cute. We made custom shea butter scents with @buttahbby, enjoyed champagne and desserts, and got to hear from a panel of fan-favorite authors.

Overall, CCLF felt like a celebration of books, Black joy, romance, community, and all the little moments that make this author life so special.

Definitely a weekend I won’t soon forget.
