We spoke with @mitchastark, guitarist of Californian progressive metalcore outfit @silentplanetband, who released their genre-breaking "SUPERBLOOM" last Friday!

Credits: @manakovstas

// Tell about the meaning of the album title "SUPERBLOOM". What does this word mean to you?

— «In California where most of us are from, there is currently a long-standing drought. But every few years, there's enough rainfall that the poppies bloom like wild in certain areas. Entire fields will be turned orange and gold with flowers, it's really amazing to see. But it totally depends on the conditions and many years, nothing happens at all.

To me, "SUPERBLOOM" is the idea that within all of us is this potential to be the best version of ourselves possible, it just takes the right conditions. And this record feels like an echo of that sentiment.

The album also has a deeper story that people will have to put together for themselves!»

// Each album in your discography it's a sort of step ahead in terms of creativity. How much is important for you offer new artistic imput to your fanbase? And how much is difficult in terms of songwriting works with a different approach on each release?

— «I think now more than ever we are just having fun making music together. It's always been important to us to push ourselves creatively and try new things. This time around it seems like we found a couple really cool new things that we want to dive into further.

In the past, a lot of the songs would start on my computer at home and I'd build them up til I thought they were done, then usually we'd get a producer involved. For "SUPERBLOOM", most of the songs were written with all the band members in the same room along with our producer @dan_braunstein, and I much prefer working like this. Having someone else at the computer when the song is starting to come together allows me to stay in creative mode and not get too slowed down by recording and editing.»

🎤 Meet Italian "animecore" pioneer Marco Calanca aka @beckomusic, co-founder of post-hardcore outfit @hopesdielastofficial, member of @fixtmusic, and creator of artificial intelligence powered @a.i.ka00! Credits: @manakovstas

📚 So we chatted with Marco and learned a little more about the concept and inspiration behind his third full-length album "PRESENT DAY // PRESENT TIME".

— 👤 Why is the album called "PRESENT DAY // PRESENT TIME"?

💭 It's a phrase taken from the anime "Serial Experiments Lain". I love the '90s anime vibe a lot and it was perfect for enclosing the whole album concept.

— 👤 Each of your albums is different from each other. How do you do it?

💭 As my music express what I am and I'm evolving as a person everyday, my music always reflects what I am in the present time. So it's pretty hard to make the same music for me.

— 👤 How did you decide on the genre and style of your project?

💭 I use to don't decide anything about my music. It's a flowing process of creativity that flow inside me when I'm in need of express myself. I'm into metal, anime, electronic music since the day one so the things I like arriving to me easly.

— 👤 What groups and projects have you been in?

💭 The other projects was: Dungeon Elite (drum & bass), Everland (alternative rock), now I have xo sad (emo trap), Knuckles (phonk), A.I.KA00 (hyperpop), and my main project Becko (electronicore).

— 👤 Who is A.I.KA00? How did she get into "HYPNOTIZED"?

💭 A.I.KA00 is my female side of my brain. I've sung all the A.I.KA00 stuff with some plugins that change the formant of the vocals to make it more female/kid.

A.I.KA00 is a process of understanding my female side. And she helped me so much to be the person I am right now.

— 👤 What do you like about your music?

💭 Music is magic. With music I'm understanding the deepest part of myself every time I write something. It's like a magic psychoanalysis that let you know who you are when you realize it. If you are connected in the right way with the "high self" you can understand yourself through music.
