🥖 A Pittsburgh tradition meets the future of automation! 🚀

At this year’s Ignition Community Conference, we’re honored to be recognized by @inductiveautomation for our RFID Trace project with @mancinisbakery , a Pittsburgh institution baking bread since 1926!

In partnership with @df_newken we helped bring enterprise-grade traceability to a 100-year-old family bakery using RFID technology, Ignition’s Event Streams Module, and Kanoa’s MES Trace Module.

🥖 10,000+ loaves baked daily
📡 15 RFID readers tracking materials throughout the facility
📊 15,600+ tags monitored
⚙️ 10+ million RFID events processed every month

All of this runs on a single Ignition gateway, bringing real-time visibility and comprehensive product traceability to a hands-on, traditional baking operation.

This project demonstrates how modern automation can help even the most traditional manufacturers improve visibility, strengthen food safety traceability, and prepare for new opportunities—all while preserving the craftsmanship that makes them special.

Cornbread in a latte?! 👀☕️🌽🧿

Had to try this fall-menu combo at @happenstancecafepgh — a Cornbread Latte + avocado toast made with @mancinisbread sourdough. I added cheese, and it was the perfect finishing touch. 🤎

☕️ Cornbread Latte — 7.5/10
Definitely interesting! Not overly sweet, with a subtle syrup flavor and buttery undertone that paired surprisingly well with the food.

🥑 Avocado Toast + Cheese — 8/10
This one took me by surprise in the best way! So flavorful, and the balsamic glaze was delicious. Definitely recommend adding cheese like I did.

The café itself is SO cute, and the outdoor seating is such a vibe while @pittsburghpa is still giving us patio weather. 🍂✨

Their fall menu is around for a little while longer, so there’s still time to try it!

Cibrone’s on Grove Rd and Frisches in Caste Village!! Cibrone’s has it all from their rolls, breads, pepperoni rolls, cookies (sugar are our Fave), endless sauces, pastas, and Daily sandwich specials. They also carry Ricci’s hot sausage! Then there is Frisch’s!! Home of the best chicken, soups and slices of pie in my opinion. The Pickle is in. 🥰 And for its eleventh year, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership was on the clock with its annual pickle food festival, Picklesburgh. 🥒 The Green New Dill covered a large footprint in 2025: Fort Duquesne Boulevard (westbound), Allegheny Landing, Allegheny Riverfront Park, two of the three Sister Bridges (Roberto Clemente, Andy Warhol), Sixth Street, and PPG Plaza. 🥴 I know, that's a long list. 😂 For 2026, Picklesburgh covered an even larger footprint with the addition of Arts Landing and a newly renovated Market Square. 😳 The event also returned to a four day schedule, and it appears this will be something going forward with Picklesburgh (when it used to be three days… it was two days from 2015 through 2017). 📅 Everyone always mentions the crowds at Picklesburgh. This year, they were not as enormous as they were from previous years. It could be the larger footprint, but I also think Picklesburgh is not as big or popular an event as it used to be. 🤷🏻‍♀️ What really kept the crowds down at Picklesburgh was smoke from wildfires in Canada. 🔥 💨 The smoke descended into the city and made everything uncomfortable and miserable. Several people at the event wore face masks, myself included. 😷 It was like reliving the COVID pandemic of 2020. The air quality in Pittsburgh was very unhealthy, but Picklesburgh moved forward as planned. I visited the Jenny Lee Swirl Bread kiosk and had the Pickle Grilled Cheese sandwich on Tomato Basil bread. 🥪 It tasted better than I expected. 😋 My girlfriend Camryn had some iced tea from the Turner Dairy Farms kiosk. 🐄 🥛 🥃 No, she didn't have the pickled iced tea. 😂 I had hoped to attend Picklesburgh on all four days, or even two of the four days. But the wildfire smoke limited my attendance to one day. 😕 I'm not disappointed. I made the most of it at Picklesburgh and had a lot of fun. Picklesburgh will return for its 12th year in July 2027. But in accordance with my "once every two years" tradition, I will return to Picklesburgh in July 2028. And NO, I will NOT guess the dates for Picklesburgh two years in advance. 😂 🥒 💛 🖤 #pittsburgh #picklesburgh #pickles #heinz #greennewdill
