On the last night of Chanukah we light an extra candle in memory of my mom. Always feels like she’s watching out for us, knowing we can use the extra light ✨✨✨

variations on a theme: a juicy, garlicky, fantastically delicious theme

my grandfather was a butcher. he specialized in meat, but he LOVED the whole food business - grocery stores, restaurants, all of it. and every time he visited, he’d bring me a full sour kosher pickle wrapped in tin foil. i freaking adored those pickles! he didn’t actually make them, but in my little girl head, poppa sam was the pickle king.

The stories, illustrated with black and white drawings, explore the intersection of Jewish tradition and the supernatural.

This collection of stories draw upon Jewish folklore and traditions about the supernatural, including ghosts, dybbuks, and golems. Each story in the collection features contemporary Jewish children who encounter ghosts and other supernatural beings. The stories explore themes of faith, tradition, and the power of the supernatural, allowing readers to reflect on the culture and history of Jewish folklore and come away with a deeper understanding of Jewish heritage.

The month of May is National Jewish American Heritage Month. As such, the @littlefreelibraryat237randolph will be endeavoring to celebrate Jewish Heritage as well as a “smidgen” of famous Jewish Americans whose work has left an indelible mark on American society and beyond.
