A few photos from this week’s round-up!

Lots of cleanups. Great to be at the art festival, attending the People's Emergency Briefing with @hannahtheplumbermcr catching up with residents and getting on with the week’s casework.

That’s another week done. See you next week!🫡

And to close the weekend… we eat. 🌙🍽️

Sunday 23 August is about slowing down, sitting together and sharing a meal to mark the end of our three-day celebration.

But before we eat, we make.

✦ The Shared Cloth: Napkin Making Workshop
With Hannaa Hamdache
3:30pm – 5:30pm

Craft your own napkin using drawing, stitching and felt, guided by multi-disciplinary artist Hannaa Hamdache. Through conversation about food, culture and memory, you will transform cultural motifs and symbols into something entirely your own and then bring it to the table.

Free event but spaces are limited, link to book in bio.

✦ The Longsight Table: Community Dinner
Orchard Garden, Crowcroft Park
6:00pm - 8:00pm

As the sun goes down over the Orchard Garden, we come together for The Longsight Table, a community dinner to close Our Longsight Festival '26. This year we are sharing Daal & Chawal, with desserts by the wonderful @sipsanddips.

One long table. One neighbourhood. One meal.

The Longsight Table is supported by Westhill Endowment Fund and Manchester City Council. The Shared Cloth workshop is supported by The Arab British Centre's As We Are, Might Have Been and Could Be programme.

Recently met Sujatha Pillai @mandhirakaari a
NHS doctor, classical dancer, poet, theatre actor, activist and Green Party member. She’s also the co-founder of @decolonialdogs a Manchester arts collective. She recently returned to performing after many years, taking to the stage at the brilliant @longsightartspace

Sujatha is warm, creative, fiercely intelligent and has that infectious positive energy. Naturally, I’ve already started the gentle campaign of “Sujatha for councillor?” 👀💚 Because Manchester could definitely do with more people like her around the Town Hall. Photo credit @greenpartyamir.

What a fantastic evening we had today in Burnage!!! It was truly amazing to meet so many beautiful, inspiring people and feel the incredible sense of community, and that energy behind The Green Party.
💚💚🍀✨

P.S. I went very crazy with pictures today, and I am very sorry if I was so up everyone’s faces today.

Friday is going to be something special.

We are kicking off Our Longsight Festival '26 with an evening at Longsight Art Space that we think you'll want to be part of. Two events. One neighbourhood. Come for one, stay for both.

✦ Workshop: A Map of Attention
By Hana Elmarakbi
4:00pm - 5:30pm

Longsight has been described through headlines and statistics for decades. This workshop asks a different question: what does this place look and feel like to the people who actually live here? Using found images, collage and mapping, Hana will guide you through creating a new map of Longsight. One made by us, for us. The workshop is supported by @arabbritishcentre

✦ Documentary Premiere: The Northmoor Neighbourhood
By Kenan Farajallah & Joy Saraleesan
6:00pm - 7:00pm

From the brick factory workers who built these streets in the 1920s, to 46 different first languages spoken in a single local school, to the young people who call Crowcroft Park their own. This film is a portrait of Longsight told entirely in its own words. The film has been made in partnership between @reelmanchester and @greatplaceshousing

Both events are free and ticketed; link to book in bio.
