This morning’s Balearic Breakfast is now archived on my Mixcloud and available to listen back. Today’s show is mainly requests including tunes inspired by tomorrow’s solar eclipse - we’ll be able to see about 90% of the sun covered by the moon tomorrow evening in the UK. And if you get up early enough - about an hour before sunrise, and without too much light pollution and a clear horizon - you may be able to see six planets - Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune - in an arc just over the horizon. And on top of that, tomorrow is a new moon and in the evening until dawn on Thursday morning, the meteor showers we see in August will be at their peak - as this is the month our planet travels through the debris left by the Swift-Tuttle comet. So there is your astronomical report from me, DJ Cosmo/ On today’s Balearic Breakfast we also paid tribute to an otherworldly musical talent, the late William Orbit who sadly transitioned to the next realm in July. As a producer, musician and composer he worked with some of the most commercially successful stars on the planet including Madonna for whom he produced the Ray of Light album, a highlight in her discography that won two Grammy Awards. Alongside his commercial endeavours. he was also an experimental music pioneer. I first got into him via his Strange Cargo album in 1987 - the record company had sent the radio station a cassette and as we didn’t play cassettes I snagged it and listened to it over and over on my Sony Walkman and was transported into his multi-faceted musical world. William Orbit rest in musical paradise. Enjoy the show and I’ll be back streaming next Tuesday from 10am to 12pm BST on my Mixcloud Live. Thanks for listening. #balearicbreakfast #mixcloudlive #williamorbit #galaxy2galaxy #cosmicmusic

🎵 CLASSIC OF THE DAY H2O feat. Billie – Nobody’s Business (Bee’s Wax Dub) Some records never lose their magic. Released in 1996 on Liquid Groove, this timeless House gem was produced by Swiss House pioneer Oliver Stumm together with Stephan Mandrax. While the vocal mixes found their way into many DJ sets, it’s the Bee’s Wax Dub that still stands out today with its deep groove and unmistakable New York House vibe. A true reminder that great House music doesn’t have an expiry date. 💬 Do you remember playing this record, or are you discovering it for the first time? 🎧 Listen 24/7 at fromtheshelffm.com #HouseMusic #HouseClassics #SoulfulHouse #FromTheShelfFM #classicoftheday

I started listening to house music in the 90s, and I was lucky enough to be living in Lausanne at the time. There were some truly visionary DJs here, parties and an incredible radio station — Couleur 3. We’d spend our time recording shows off the radio and passing around mixes from New York DJs. A magical period. A real community. So when Raffaella — a party girl living legend — told me she had all the tapes from that era sitting in a box at her place... well. Here we are. I spent four days straight recording and digitizing every single one of them. For her, for us, and hey —— for you too! I hope you can feel the warmth and energy that radiated from that extraordinary time and that you’ll put it to good use at your next dinner! Dance with your friends, smile with them. Good music shared in community beats any drug out there. Thanks Raffa 🤍 link in bio For more music 💎 please follow @ripasaudioarchives #mixtape90 #housemusic #90shousemusic #tonyhumphries #newyorkhousemusic
