Music, art, culture - they are fundamental. We can not live a life without these things because it is simply not living at all. The government are advising the creative industry to “retrain”, “educate”, “find new jobs...”
After years of hard work to establish ourselves in an extremely competitive industry, they just cast us to the side and leave us to die with practically no support.
60% of our events industry face closure. This means lives ruined, dreams people have worked so hard to obtain - shattered.

• The core live music industry stands to lose at least £900 million if it remains closed for the rest of 2020.

• An estimated 30-50% of the live music industry’s workforce are facing unemployment, leading to a catastrophic loss of skills.

• The UK live music industry is the second biggest in the world but is at risk of falling behind.

• The Government’s Job Retention Scheme has provided short term relief to the many live music businesses and employees yet plans to wind down the scheme risk putting livelihoods at risk without further support.

• If the UK Government does not provide timely and well-targeted support to the music sector, the industry will lose core physical infrastructure, as well as musical talent technical skills, which will be impossible to replace, even if the industry is able to return to economic viability post-Covid-19.

WHY ARE THE GOVERNMENT NOT SUPPORTING US? WHY ARE WE BEING TOLD TO EDUCATE AND GET NEW JOBS?

I went to college and studied music, I then when to university - trained and worked in health care. I tried to work what was deemed a “real job” but the arts were always in the back of my mind. Some of us are born to work in the creative industry; music and modelling was always my passion. You can not tell us to get new jobs, 1.3 billion people can not simply learn a new trade.

I worked for 10 years to build my own model agency and career, if you think I am ready to let that all just slip away then think again.

We are viable. Let’s fight this together.

Big thanks to everyone who came out to support the events industry yesterday. Thank you for standing with us.

Please share awareness.
