The first of the 3 major elements of the Rubber Stamp Ensemble project that I’d like to share is the album itself!

Each physical copy of the album is a hand-stamped original. A unique image on each insert creates a visual “numbering” system that corresponds to the 200 zines which will be part of the project’s Mail Art kit (more to come on that soon…)

The Rubber Stamp Ensemble is not a fixed group of musicians, but this particular iteration that recorded the music of “Vol. 1” is special, and they captured the spirit of the project in the most beautiful ways. I’m so grateful for each of them. A new iteration of the Rubber Stamp Ensemble will perform at the project’s November 29th launch event, but seating will be limited so mark your calendars!

“Rubber Stamp Ensemble, Vol. 1” will be released November 27.

OK, that was surreal. Our little poetry project @rodaisun that we’ve been peddling blindly for the last five years shouted out on the big stage by Canadian rock legends ✰

Thank you @brokensocialscene for weaving Cat’s work into your song & to our friend Andrew for keeping poetry holy & at the forefront, supporting us & rolling into our poetic coterie.

(Lyrics from 𝕋𝕙𝕖 ℂ𝕒𝕝𝕝, taken from RDS issue no. 42, ‘In the light of fundamental justice’ inspired by Alice Notley’s ‘The Poetics of Disobedience’)

The “𝕀 ℝ𝔼𝕄𝔼𝕄𝔹𝔼ℝ” 𝕎𝕆ℝ𝕂𝕊ℍ𝕆ℙ last month was such a special evening—one that has totally reshaped the way we see writer’s block. 𝖱𝖾𝖺𝖽𝗂𝗇𝗀-𝖠𝗌-𝖨𝗇𝗌𝖾𝗉𝖺𝗋𝖺𝖻𝗅𝖾-𝖡𝗋𝖾𝖺𝗍𝗁 was a collective performance & experiment that totally rocked our hearts.

Thank you to everyone who attended, Parquette, our talented band, our sound technician, the front-of-house hands, pomes for bringing the goods, but most of all 𝓣𝓗𝓐𝓝𝓚𝓢 𝓣𝓞 𝓙𝓞𝓔

some behind-the-scenes of the rubber stamp ensemble short film, with @mango_sunset 🎥
//
I can’t wait to share this all later this year!! I’ve been working on an album of rubberstamped graphic scores, a short film and a mail art post-kit. Each is a unique collaboration and each embodies and reveals a different aspect of the project, all the way back to its roots in the stamp collection of my great-aunt Freya and her connection to the Mail Art network. ✉️

At the heart of the writer’s block workshop is a room of artists working with & for each other, in a collective moment of sound & suspension.

RODAISUN has been and always will be a structured framework for us to experiment freely in our practice. To coax out the voice within the voice, the one that is carrying the seed to essential spirit.

Thank you Japhy for capturing the sweat and focus of this sardine can mind ⭐️ your submissions have been inspiring us! (More on that soon)

As part of the Blue Metropolis Festival, Expozine brings together members of two Montreal small press poetry collectives on April 25 at 5:30 PM !!

Working in their respective languages, the artisanal periodicals Tantôt and RODAISUN have created vibrant spaces for new voices and poetic experimentation. The five poet-editors of the two magazines will join the Expozine team to discuss collective publishing, their editorial and graphic influences, and the challenges of producing small-press, artisanal magazines—along with the often blurred boundary between zines and magazines.
The event will conclude with a short collective reading!

Bilingual readings; conversation in French and English.

RODAISUN @rodaisun
RODAISUN is a literary performance group and monthly triadic print publication formed by multidisciplinary artists Iva Čelebić, Catherine Machado, and Emma Cosgrove. After meeting in a university reporting class in 2013, the three began a long-term collaboration that has expanded into a shared, experimentally driven poetic practice. Since July 2021, RODAISUN has released a new print publication every month, which is distributed to several Montreal stockists and shipped through a subscription-based mailing service. The poetry project now includes over 55 issues and more than a 1,000 poems exploring themes of memory, ecology, time, the body, loss, and absurdity.
