During our planning, we knew we wanted to incorporate the kids in meaningful (and teen approved cool) ways. This by far was a family favorite. Who doesn’t love building your own wedding cake LIVE?!?! —>>>

We had a vision for an Italian pasticceria-style dessert experience. We sketched our thoughts on a napkin down and brought it to @manhattansweets bakery - who executed it perfectly.

Pastry chefs Travis and Emily came to Tellers and assembled the mille-feuille cake base on-site before rolling it onto the dance floor for the finishing touches.

Then the fun began.

Mark, Gino, Rylie, Paulie, and I each took turns piping the pastry cream, stacking the berries, and dusting it with powdered sugar. After we completed the first layer we invited our guests to join in too, helping decorate a dessert that became so much more.

It was a beautiful, messy, joyful moment that perfectly reflected what the night was all about: creating something together as our new blended family.

And it was as del-i-cious😋 1000/10 recommend.

If this is your first time seeing this series, here’s the context:

A couple of weeks ago, I spoke up about what’s happening in our communities and our country, and how heavy everything has been feeling.

I shared some of the hateful rhetoric that came my way. And while I believe it’s important not to ignore that reality, I also found myself asking: How can we REALLY make an impact?

Instead of spiraling in outrage and negativity, I wanted to channel that energy into something constructive. This series was the answer.
