Que poderoso fue sentir que la noche era nuestra, que corríamos seguras y nadie nos podía detener🏃🏼‍♀️‍➡️⚡️🔥

Durante la ruta alguien gritó: no están solas, sabemos que es una lucha constante para que las mujeres se sientan libres y protegidas cuando salen a correr, pero hoy, todos las cuidamos🤍 Y justo así se sintió, libres, felices y sin miedo. ¡Gracias @nikerunning por regalarnos esto una noche!

Que mis amigas sean eternas y sigamos corriendo juntas siempre💫 What a Night! 😍

How do I begin to tell you about this journey?

I guess I'll start with the big part. I ran my first ever 60k, and my first ever international race last weekend. And I placed a whole lot higher than I could've hoped.

Nearly 40 miles, nearly 10,000' of elevation gain. And I'm so incredibly proud of myself.

I placed 23 / 94 overall,
and 6 / 27 for females.

In the three weeks before this trip, I lost my housing, put my whole life in a storage unit and at friends' houses, and... I got on a plane to Mexico.

And then... I ran through the mountains for 11 hours, and loved every single moment of it.

➡️

My first time in Mexico, and 10 days getting to know a new country, a new friend, a new culture.

...and a whole lot more words in Spanish, and modes of consuming corn (tlacoyos, chilaquiles, antojitos, oh my). ❤️

I held my arms open to receive the gifts of comunidad in Mexico, the joy of running, the medicine that is movement, the reminder that I'm not going to die if I lose my routines for a bit.

So many kind faces, so many people ready to welcome me - both on the trail, and in town.

... and the scenery?!

Wow, Hidalgo. The Sierra de la Navajas is absolutely stunning. Running with thousands and thousands of obsidian shards underfoot, looking out at the horizon and seeing a plume of smoke coming up out of a volcano, navigating Nopal cactus and running under crazy amounts of Spanish moss...

I'm so very lucky I got to come here and be reminded that there is so much life still left to live, so much magic yet to discover.

That abundance is around us, that joys are ready to greet us.

➡️

I explored the course a bit pre-race, and soaked my shoes when the route was.... a bit different than I'd planned.

And in that, reinforced that challenges are usually just opportunities for gratitude, wearing funny disguises.

➡️

I got to help with a bit of prep for the big event, weighing delicious coffee beans and stickering the bags.

➡️

And I even got to make some of the markers that guided runners as they ran four different distances on the course, with some very patient, very kind, and super funny Trail Run Hidalgo staff members.

Billi subió al podio con un 2º lugar en los 60K, Juan Pa cerró 4º general en los 30K, Alejandro y Jero compartieron kilómetros en equipo, y Diego y Mar se animaron a conquistar la montaña por primera vez.

Porque no todos salimos por lo mismo, pero todos empezamos dando ese primer paso.

Que estas historias te recuerden que siempre hay un siguiente reto, una nueva distancia o una primera vez esperando allá afuera.

Atrévete a buscar la tuya. La montaña es de todos. ⛰️

Estas personas tuvieron el coraje de pararse en la línea de salida de 42.195 kilómetros en una de las rutas y días más pesados.

Que fregon que me tocó presenciarlo. No sé cuántas veces tenemos la oportunidad de ver a tus amigos literal correr por sus sueños. Y a desconocidos que terminan sintiéndose como amigos. 🥹✨

Ni modo que no dejara el pulmón cuando ellos dejaron sus piernas y su cora.

Una locura máxima esta carrera con todos sus matices muy mexicanos - por eso - el maratón de CDMX no es cualquier maratón, es EL MARATÓN. ❤️‍🔥

Desde las 5 am hasta las 2 pm. Gracias por 1,000 choques de mano, cientos de gritos, abrazos y muuuuuchas miradas!

Corrí con mis amigos.
Corrí con mi novia.
Corrí con un ejército en mi espalda.
Corrí con los que estaban detrás de las vallas.
Con los que gritaban mi nombre sin conocerme.
Con los que aparecieron justo cuando los necesitaba.

Si yo puse las piernas, ustedes pusieron todo lo demás.

Tocó correr.
Y qué chingón se sintió hacerlo acompañado.

Every time in Mexico City feels like a treat for the soul, catching up with old friends to be reassured we’re connected close even though we live miles away, the city’s raw chaotic energy always takes me to an unexpected situation where I’ll end up either laughing or shrugging to a random person 🤷🏻‍♀️ and there’s always so much food here that can probably fill the whole universe. So much culture, art, chistes and creative people I would have never imagined to meet. My condition wasn’t the best this time, I had certain expectations for this trip that went down the drain but thanks to my friends I was blessed 💛

I’m only human and vulnerable but I’ve been incredibly lucky with the friendships I’ve made—not just in Mexico or Japan, but all around the world. And you know who you are.
