picture it: October 2014, Pittsburgh. it’d been 6 months since I moved from Harlem, NY to western PA. besides my family (my mom is from PGH and moved back when I was in college) + a couple friends I met through my cousin Damon, I didn’t know anyone. I had 2 young kiddos and spent most of my time doin parent stuff, freelancing as a graphic designer & creative director, traveling, and missing my friends, my ‘hood, and my old life. but when October started approaching I began asking around about Halloween parties and the nightlife scene, preferably for Black queer people. where I ended up was definitely Black AF, which I liked cause the music was good and everybody was moisturized, but it was also a very hetero environment. still I made the best of it cuz Halloween is my favorite holiday, my moon is in Scorpio, and I was tired of not having a social life. this is a photo from that night (I was a wind-up doll lol). it would be another year before I found Images (RIP) and 2 years until Ace Hotel PGH (RIP) & Hot Mass entered my life. but the seed was planted. I needed to either find a far more intersectional Black nightlife scene or create it. I started @mostbeautifullest in 2017 by throwing my own Halloween party, of course. so this is the season that pushed me to build a life in this city, and that was based purely on what I needed for ME. lately I’ve been goin all the way through it emotionally with nightlife. it can be extremely draining, it’s not always financially stable, there’s a lot of struggle, disrespect, and heartbreak coupled being a Black queer woman in this industry, and so many other things. but 12 years after this photo, what I was inspired to build for myself is now for the benefit of so many others. that still feels mad special. and necessary. story time ovuh. here’s where to catch me—nah, US—this spooky season: tomorrow (10/16) - SZR Vampire Masquerade @loreleipgh, 6-11pm (🎟️ $10 adv/$15 door) 10/24 - Cherry Bomb: me & my bb/deejay protege Manny Dibiachi @spiritpgh, 9pm-2am (🎟️ $10 adv/$15 door) 10/30 - NINE LIVES: Mostbeautifullest 9 Year Anniversary @ Collapse, 10pm-4am (🎟️ $15 early/$20 GA/$25 door) see you in these streets 💋👻

Let’s get a jump on this, club kids & techno baddies: On Saturday Oct 24 it’s professor versus protege at the next Cherry Bomb. 🍒💣 Far before he became a member of The MoB, we were a fan of hip-hop artist & songwriter @mannydibiachi. Not just because of his top-tier stage presence and vicious wordplay, but also his impressive ear and musicality. When he expressed a desire to add deejaying to his portfolio of talents, @hunyrocks was all too willing to take him on as her first (and to-date *only*) mentee. Since then he’s been smashing gigs all over the city, including DVF, our Cobra finale, and twice at Cherry Bomb Day Party. 🧨 That said, it only makes sense that we finally welcome him to join his mentor on the decks at OG Cherry Bomb. Come as you are. 🏳️‍🌈 @thetruetpgh is a pioneering Pittsburgh organization rooted in ballroom and vogue culture, sitting at the intersection of health and wellness, social activism, and arts presentation. Founded in 2010 by Duane Binion and John Easter III, True T has grown from a celebration of queer creative expression into a cornerstone community institution for LGBTQIA+ people of color. 🔵 In collaboration with Project Blue Space, True T At The Water’s Edge brings that legacy to the riverfront, honoring a long tradition of water as a place where queer communities have gathered, danced, and celebrated together. UPDATE: postponed to 9/26 due to the rain forecast ☔️ one final Cherry Bomb Day Party tomorrow (2-8pm in the alley next to @tracebrewing) and believe me when I say it was hard won. between everybody and they mama wanting an alley party and the insufferable Karen antics of certain Bloomfield residents I’ve already aired out…it’s been a struggle. but here we go. one more time. 🍒💣 I mentioned in my stories a couple weeks ago that while I was in LA I attended @theyhousela’s Sunday Sessions takeover in @grandpark_la and had a spiritual experience. I haven’t danced that hard at a party in years and it was all house music. that solidified a lingering thought I’d had for months—that I should narrow the focus of Cherry Bomb Day Party to house the same way I did for Cherry Bomb which became a techno party when it returned to @spiritpgh as a monthly residency in February. thank you, @terrell_.brooke ❤️‍🔥 I feel good about this remix of the Cherry Bomb brand—house in the sun and techno into demon hours. I got some very fab deejays joining me that are gon go BEAST MODE: my werk husband @rojowashere, my lil sis @manibahia_, and the talented @khankuma140 who is joining a MoB lineup for the first time. he’s not queer but his moms are so that’s extended fam. 🏳️‍🌈 I hope everyone comes ready to dance and feel some communal togetherness and joy. I also hope it doesn’t rain or at least not much. if it does we’ll have to postpone. I’ma hope the universe sees me fit for a blessing so we can just have this 6 hour mental health break. it’s needed. here’s to brighter days 🙏🏾 📸 @coledupo
